Ai Yori Aoshi

桜庭葵

Aoi Sakuraba (桜庭 葵 Sakuraba Aoi) is the primary heroine of the series. She is the daughter and heir to the Sakuraba Family and the wife of Kaoru Hanabishi (which now makes her name Aoi Hanabishi (花菱 葵, Hanabishi Aoi) on her late father-in-law's side or Aoi Honjo (本条 葵, Honjō Aoi) on her late mother-in-law's side after Kaoru retakes his mother's maiden name). Most importantly, Aoi is also the granddaughter-in-law of the late Gen'ichiro Hanabishi.

花菱薫

Kaoru Hanabishi (花菱 薫 Hanabishi Kaoru), also known as Kaoru Honjo, is the primary male protagonist of Ai Yori Aoshi, the fiance and later the husband of Aoi Sakuraba (the primary female protagonist).

ティナ・フォスター

Tina is somewhat happy almost all the time whenever encountered. She enjoys meeting new people and getting to know them. Her most prominent trait when meeting other women is to fondle their breasts. Tina also likes to drink alcohol a lot.

みなづきたえこ

Taeko Minazuki (水無月 妙子 Minazuki Taeko) is a new member of the Meiritsu University’s Photography Club and eventually moves into the Sakuraba summer house as the housekeeper after being relieved of her previous housekeeping job (which was a live-in job). Her two most prominent features are her very large breasts (which, according to her, are still growing) and her clumsiness. She was so clumsy that Aoi Sakuraba had to convince Miyabi Kagurazaki to hire her, as she had a tendency to break a lot of valuable or expensive objects, but she tries to do her best. Tina commends Taeko for her effort and tells her that she is getting better. Taeko explains that the reason she wants to be a housekeeper so badly is because when she was little, her father had died and her mother had to raise her as a single parent. Taeko's mother was very proficient at keeping house, and Taeko wishes to achieve the same proficiency that her mother had. She also develops feelings for Kaoru Hanabishi as the series progresses. She likes to put chocolate in all the dishes she makes, even in fish. In an episode of Ai yori Aoshi: Enishi, it is indicated that Taeko has an interest in the supernatural, as well as training as a miko (a Japanese priestess or shrine maiden). Four years later, Taeko is seen working at a Sakuraba Department Store where Miyabi is the manager. She was voiced by Kaori Mizuhashi in Japanese and by the late Philece Sampler in English.

神楽崎雅

Miyabi Kagurazaki (神楽崎 雅 'Kagurazaki Miyabi') is the Strict Mean appointed guardian and caregiver of Aoi Sakuraba, who spent most of her life looking after Aoi and helping in her upbringing. She is also the manager of one of the department stores owned by the Sakuraba Family. She becomes Miyabi Sakuraba after being adopted by Aoi's parents at the end of the manga.

水無月ちか

Chika Minazuki (水無月 智花 Minazuki Chika) is the younger cousin of Taeko Minazuki that spends most of her time working at a café down by the beach during the summertime. Because of this, she's often very tanned, except for the tan-lines caused by her wearing swimsuits. She notices that Taeko has a crush on Kaoru Hanabishi and spends a lot of her time trying to fix the two up. She occasionally has mild, romantic feelings for Kaoru herself as the series progresses, but for the most part, she looks up to him as an older brother figure.

みゆきまゆ

Mayu Miyuki (美幸 繭 Miyuki Mayu) is something of a prodigy who attends the same college as "Hanabishi-sama" purely by accident. Meiritsu University was chosen for her by her father and she initially thought poorly of it.
