Ao Haru Ride

馬渕洸

Kou Tanaka (田中 洸 Tanaka Kō), formerly Kou Mabuchi (馬渕 洸, Mabuchi Kō) before he changed his family name back to Tanaka in the last chapter, is the male protagonist of the Ao Haru Ride series. He is a 2nd year High School student whose first love is Futaba Yoshioka.

吉岡双葉

Futaba is described as a teenage girl of average height and build. She has fair skin, medium brown hair that falls to the length of her upper back with bangs swept off to the right, and large golden-brown eyes with prominent lashes.

村尾修子

Shuko Murao (村尾 修子 Murao Shūko) is an unfriendly "lone wolf" who has a cold exterior that drives others away and she has no trust in girls due to experiences in middle school.

田中陽一

Yoichi Tanaka (田中 陽一 Tanaka Yōichi) is Kou Mabuchi's older brother by eight years. He works as an English teacher at Futaba's high school. Futaba Yoshioka was initially interested in Yoichi upon entering high school because he reminded her of Kou, but was unaware that the two were brothers. Yoichi knows about Shuuko's crush on him but always rebuffs her advances, telling her that he will never see her as anything more than a student. However, he never hesitates to help her in times of need and is happy whenever he sees that she is fitting in. He enjoys a playful 'rivalry' with Aya Kominato over Shuko Murao. He often gives Futaba advice whenever she feels unsure about herself or about Kou.

小湊亜耶

Aya Kominato (小湊 亜耶 Kominato Aya) is outgoing and spontaneous, Aya seems to be the only character without social problems. He is very open, caring, and sometimes even dense. He has an unrequited crush on Shuko Murao. Aya harbors a hatred for Tanaka-sensei, and initially did not like Kou Tanaka due to his relation to him. He is good at Math. He is the only one Kou has told about his romantic feelings for Futaba Yoshioka.

冬馬

Toma Kikuchi (菊池 冬馬, Kikuchi Tōma) is a boy in Futaba Yoshioka's year, making his first appearance later in the story. He is a 2nd year High School student and was previously going out with her.

槙田悠里

Yuri Makita (槙田 悠里 Makita Yūri) is a girl whose high school life is parallel to Futaba Yoshioka's middle school life whom she soon became friends with. Yuri gets by very well, however, for she prefers to be hated for who she truly is than to be liked for someone she isn't.

Yui Narumi (成海 唯 Narumi Yui) is a classmate of Kou Tanaka from junior high whose father was in the same hospital as Kou's mother.

一ノ瀬蓮

Ren Ichinose (一ノ瀬 連 Ichinose Ren) is the school idol who is basically good at everything and plays the role of main male protagonist. He likes to keep himself isolated from most students and is admired by all of the female populous as a result. He has a close group of friends which are male however the story gives the impression most other male students are jealous of his position. He also has a strong passion for mathematics. Although he has a girlfriend, Mayuka, who is older than he is, Ren tends to lose his guard around Ninako. He only later on realizes his feelings for Ninako, but tries to forget about her by distancing himself for Mayuka's sake. In the end, Mayuka breaks up with him because she realized his feelings toward Ninako and that she treats work more important than love. Ren's feelings toward Ninako grows stronger, eventually making him unable to hide it any longer.

木下仁菜子

Ninako Kinoshita (木下仁奈子 Kinoshita Ninako) is the female protagonist of the manga Strobe Edge. She is a 2nd year highschool student whose first love was Ren Ichinose.
