Sequel to the first Ar Tonelico PS2 game.
After the battle with Mir ended and the world was saved, Lyner and his friends were in the middle of a journey to gather the [feelings] they needed to craft a Song that would reach everyone in the world.
However, while the world should be peaceful again, various strange incidents have started happening.
Items produced through Grathmelding suddenly rose in price due to a shortage of materials, Tenba dismissed a large portion of their Reyvateil workforce, and this in turn caused these Reyvateils to begin falling into emotional instability one after another.
And finally, the Tenba troops have started a war with the Reyvateils at Skuwat Village, while a "mysterious entity" that seems able to control the common subconscious of the Reyvateils seeks a confrontation with Lyner.

ライナー・バルセルト
MAINLyner Barsett (ライナー・バルセルト, Rainā Baruseruto, lit. "Lyner Barsert") is the protagonist of Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia, the first game in the Ar tonelico series. He is the son of Leard Barsett, the governor of Platina, the most important city in the region of Sol Ciel that is situated at the upper levels of the Ar tonelico Tower, and has access to the local government as well as much of the tower. He also seems to be quite adept at speaking and understanding the Hymmnos Language.

SUPPORTINGShurelia (シュレリア, shureria, lit. "Syureria") is one of the heroines of the first Ar tonelico game, Melody of Elemia. She is the Administrator of the First Tower and the leader of the Knights of Elemia. As her direct subordinate, Lyner both admires and respects her. Although it is well-known that she is a Reyvateil, and a very powerful one at that, the identity of her Reyvateil type is left as a mystery for most of the game.

SUPPORTINGMisha is a Pureblooded β-Type Reyvateil, one of the main heroines in Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia, and is also known to the Teru Tribe as the Star Singer. Since she has a pure bloodline, she is able to cast more powerful spells than regular Reyvateils. Her main purpose in life is to sing the Song Chronicle Key to seal Mir away. She and Lyner are childhood friends in Platina, although he does not remember her at first when they meet in Tenba. She is also a good cook. Dispassionate, composed, and sometimes childish, Misha is quite bold and does not hesistate to make move on Lyner. She suffers from acrophobia, and is also quite a klutz. It is worth noting that despite being older than Aurica, Misha is trapped in her 12-year-old body until she recovered the Chronicle Key. In the game, Misha's specialties are thunder and ice magic. Her Mind Guardian is Hama, a spirit that came from the ocarina that Lyner made for Misha before she left to sing the Chronicle Key.
