Misao Minakami

水無神操緒

Misao Minakami (水無神 操緒 Minakami Misao) is the lead female character. She has been with Tomo since a very young age, when he was involved in an accident where she made contract to become burial doll to save Tomo's life. Most people cannot see her as she is a spirit. She is the Burial Doll for the Asura Machina named Kurogane.

Kanade Takatsuki

嵩月奏

Kanade Takatsuki (嵩月 奏 Takatsuki Kanade) is the second female heroine of the series. She is a demon who becomes a friend of Tomoharu Natsume and seems to have feelings for Tomoharu. Later on in the series, she and Tomoharu make a contract making Tomoharu an Asura Cryin and giving birth to Persephone, their child, owl.

Tomoharu Natsume

夏目智春

Tomoharu Natsume (夏目 智春 Natsume Tomoharu), often called "Tomo" by his closest friends, is the main protagonist of the series. He controls Kurogane and became an Asura Cryin after he made a contract with Kanade Takatsuki which gave birth to Persephone. He confesses that he is in love with Kanade, but after the restriction of Misao Minakami, he is unable to choose between her or Kanade because he loves both equally, but so the three agree that he doesn't have to.

Aine Shizuma

志津間哀音

Aine Shizuma (志津間 哀音 Shizuma Aine) is the daughter of Kirie Shizuma and the cousin of Reishirou Saeki and Reiko Saeki who is shown to have once been a living girl like Misao Minakami.

Rikka Kurasawa

Rikka Kurasawa (倉澤 六夏 Kurasawa Rikka) is the president of the Second Student Council, which supervises committees in the school and the Handler of Suishou (Himezasa, the Burial Doll of Suishou, is a close friend of her).

Reiko Saeki (佐伯 玲子 Saeki Reiko) is the class president of Tomoharu Natsume's class, the cousin of Aine Shizuma and the younger sister of Reishirou Saeki.

You Susugihara

雪原瑶

often wears a black shirt, white pants, a pair of black boots and a necklance with an aqua-blue and dark blue blazer with the GD's crest on the left. However in season two, she is seen wearing a polo shirt of similar colors and with a GD's crest, with black pants.

Reishiro Saeki (佐伯 玲士郎 Saeki Reishirō) is the head of the First Student Council on campus, the cousin of Aine Shizuma and the older brother of Reiko Saeki.

Naotaka Natsume

Still unknown whether he died few years ago or still alive. His silhouette appeared in the third episode of Asura Cryin season 2 when Tomoharu is in danger. He was tricked in order to appear in the 7th episode. Then he was shot by the owner of the Koala and died. In the 6th episode, it is known that the real Naotaka actually died and he is Tomoharu from the First World that appeared in Second World[. The real Naotaka in first world is the center of the experiment that caused the time and space to open up and everything's beginning.

Takuma Higuchi

Takuma Higuchi (樋口 琢磨, Higuchi Takuma) is a good friend of Tomoharu Natsume who is interested in all things that are supernatural and he also often flirts with any beautiful girls he sees.
