範馬刃牙

Baki Hanma (範馬 刃牙, Hanma Baki) is the titular protagonist of the Baki the Grappler franchise. At thirteen, he decided to take his training into his own hands to perform more intense training in his father's footsteps. He later aims to defeat him. Baki first fought in the no-rules arena at fifteen and went on to become its champion. He is the son of Yuujirou Hanma and Emi Akezawa and the half-brother of Jack Hanma.

ビスケット・オリバ

Biscuit Oliva (ビスケット・オリバ, Bisuketto Oriba), can be also romanized as Biscuit Oriba, is a fictional character from anime and manga series of Baki the Grappler. An assassin working for the US government as well as being a special jailer in the Arizona State Prison. He possesses an iron body and is almost invulnerable to anything. In the English dubbing of the second season, his name was changed to Oliver.

愚地克巳

Katsumi Orochi (愚地 克巳, Orochi Katsumi) is major character from anime and manga series of Baki the Grappler. He is the adopted son of Doppo Orochi and Natsue Orochi. Katsumi is a 3rd dan Shinshinkai Karate prodigy and one of the strongest fighters from the series. His original surname is probably Katsuragi (葛城, Katsuragi).

柴千春

Chiharu Shiba (柴 千春, Shiba Chiharu) is a recucuring character from anime and manga series of Baki the Grappler. He is a street fighter that doesn't seem to feel pain. Chiharu serves as the leader of the Tokkoutai (特攻隊, Tokkōtai) racing gang.

松本梢江

Kozue Matsumoto (松本 梢江, Matsumoto Kozue) is a major character from anime and manga series of Baki the Grappler. She is Baki Hanma's schoolmate and the daughter of Kinuyo Matsumoto, Baki's landlady. In later parts of the series, Kozue is also his girlfriend. Her father fought and died in the Underground Arena.

柳龍光

Ryuukou Yanagi (柳 龍光, Yanagi Ryūkō) is a fictional character from anime and manga series of Baki. He is a Japanese convict who escapes from being enclosed in rocket-proof special glass. The smallest of the convicts physically, he is later being shown as the most deadly. He is the only convict whose crime is known, that he killed a dozen men in prison as a test bed for his new skill.

安藤玲一

Reiichi Andou (安藤 玲一, Andō Reiichi) is a fictional character from anime and manga series of Baki the Grappler. Once a friend of Yuujirou Hanma's, Andou is a giant man who lives as a hermit secluding himself deep in the woods of the Hida Mountains. During the first series, in order to get strong, Baki trains with Andou by eating a lot and chopping logs with his heavy ax.

龍書文

Shobun Ron (龍 書文, Ron Shobun, Chinese pinyin: Lóng Shū-Wén) is a fictional character from manga series of Baki. He is an user of Iai Kenpo and an unbeaten fighter of the Chinese underground area hired by Kaiou Kaku to make the Chinese team. He hardly speaks Japanese and is mainly silent.

楊海王

Kaiou You (楊 海王, Yō Kaiō; Chinese pinyin: Yáng Hǎiwáng) is a fictional character from manga series of Baki. He is a Chinese fighter specifically trained into having a "diamond body". He took part in the Raitai Tournament.
