真城最高

Moritaka Mashiro (真城 最高 Mashiro Moritaka), also referred to as Saikō (サイコー) by his friends as it is an alternative way of reading his name, is the main protagonist of Bakuman. He is a dedicated mangaka who strives to have a hit series as well as an anime to fulfill his promise to Miho Azuki (his love interest and later on wife). He is the artist half of the duo, Ashirogi Muto and he is also the rival of Eiji Nizuma.

高木秋人

Akito Takagi (Takagi Akito) is the deuteragonist in the series. Takagi was also the one who first found out about Mashiro Moritaka's manga drawing talent, and he was the one who proposed the idea of Mashiro teaming up with him to draw manga. Like Mashiro, Takagi strives to be the best he can be. He also suggests they should all go to the same schools as Mashiro just so they can write manga together. He is also the husband of Kaya Miyoshi. Ashirogi Muto is a Rival of Eiji Niizuma.

平丸一也

Kazuya Hiramaru (Born June 18, 1984, in Kanagawa-ken, Japan), is a different kind of genius than Eiji Niizuma. He picked up an issue of Jump on the metro, thought it was something easy he could do, and then quit his job to draw manga. He had a manga getting serialized in Jump called Otters 11 which was later canceled. Later on, he serialized the one-shot he entered into the Super Leaders' Love Fest, You Can't Reach Me.

真城昌弘

Masahiro Mashiro is the father of Moritaka Mashiro is the older brother of Nobuhiro Mashiro. His face is never revealed in the series. In his school days, Masahiro was the captain of the karate team, and won several trophies. Like his father, Masahiro believed Moritaka would follow in Nobuhiro's footsteps and become a mangaka; when his wife told him bout Moritaka desire to do so, he gave his consent. He later gives an inspirational speech to his son, using manga references.

Hidemitsu Ishizawa (Born May 19, 1993, in Saitama-ken, Japan) is a serialized mangaka and occasional nuisance to Akito Takagi and Moritaka Mashiro.
