After Mahiru has a haunting recurring dream, she meets the Lunar Race, which consists of the vampire Nozomu, the werewolf Akira, the fox Misoka, and the tengu Mitsuru. They need her help to recover the 'Drops of the Moon,' the recently-pilfered source of their power.
As the battles to recover the Drops rage on, Mahiru tries to open up the dark, human-hating tengu Mitsuru, and form a bridge between humans and the Lunar Race.

Characters
Akira is a fun loving member of the Lunar race. He is a werewolf. His parents died when he was young, so he grew up with his other werewolf relatives. He lives with other members of the lunar race at the Moonshine bar. He is in love with Keiko Himura.
Nozomu is a member of the Lunar Race. He is a vampire. He is kind and ambitious and definitely a ladies man. He is the first to meet Mahiru and invite her to join his group to help collect the Teardrops. He lives in the Moonshine.
Mahiru is the main protagonist in the series. She is a normal human who happens to be the descendent of a legendary princess. The princess in the legends fell in love with a demon but the demon was killed by the princess’s human father. A war then started between the Lunar Race of demons and the humans. Mahiru is guided by the legendary princess’s spirit to make amends between the two races. She joins with a group of Luner Race, who live at the Moonshine bar, and prepares to help make amends. She later also has a romantic relationship with one of the demons known as Mitsuru Suou, a Tengu .
Mitsuru is of the Lunar Race. He is a tengu, a class of supernatural creatures found in Japanese folklore, art, theater, and literature. Tengu roughly translates to "heavenly dogs". They are one of the best known yōkai (monster-spirits), who at a young age was abandoned and forced to grow up with humans. He is always talking about how much he hates humans. He stays with other members of the Lunar Race at the Moonshine bar. He also later has a romantic relationship with the descendant of the princess other wise known as Mahiru Shiraishi.
Misoka is a member of the Lunar Race. He is a Kitsune. He is intelligent and quiet. Like the rest of the Lunar Race, he enjoys music and dancing. He used to reside in the Moon Palace. He now lives in the Moonshine bar with others of the Lunar Race.
