Tada Banri, a newly admitted student at a private law school in Tokyo, found himself completely lost after the opening ceremony, trying to find his way to the freshman orientation. At that moment, he ran into another lost freshman from the same school, Yanagisawa Mitsuo, and they hit it off at once. Somehow arriving at their intended goal just on time, there appeared in front of the two a beautiful girl holding a bouquet of roses. The girl then whacked Mitsuo across the face with the bouquet and handed the flowers over to him. “Freshman, congratulations”, was all she said, and then she left. The stylish, well dressed, perfect woman that had swung at Mitsuo was his childhood friend, Kaga Kouko. As children they had promised to marry each other one day, fulfilling their dreams. In order to escape from her, Mitsuo had gone out secretly and taken the examination for this well known private college, but now she showed up in the freshman orientation hall. She too had taken the law school entrance examination, catching up with him there.

MAINBanri Tada (多田 万里 Tada Banri) is the main protagonist of the Golden Time series. He is a college freshman studying law at a private university in Tokyo. On the night of the graduation ceremony he falls off a bridge, and as a result, suffers from retrograde amnesia, unable to remember anything before the accident. He is followed by his own ghost which left his body after the accident.

MAINNana Hayashida (林田 奈々 Hayashida Nana), better known as Linda (リンダ Rinda), is the tritagonist of the Golden Time series. She is a second-year student and member of the Japanese Culture Festival Research Society. She and Banri Tada were best friends in high school. However, she is now Banri's senior due to him hospitalized for a year.

SUPPORTINGChinami is a pale-skinned petite, skinny and short girl with waist-length or thigh-length salmon hair, large blue eyes and visible pretty red cheeks. In Episode 19, she chose to cut her hair short so that it could possibly to look more like Linda's hair. Chinami is seen wearing a long green shirt and big, blue, puffy pants with red to brown socks with brown shoes.
