The Universal Century, with its history of colonization and wars, passes into posterity, and time flows on.
Mankind enters a new age of seemingly endless peace and prosperity called the "Regild Century."
The year is R.C. 1014. The Capital Tower, an orbital elevator, connects earth and space. Due to its role in supplying Earth's power by transferring Photon Batteries from space, it is worshiped with a religious fervor. Bellri Zenam, a cadet in the Capital Guard formed to protect Capital Tower, is participating in his first non-simulated exercise when he is attacked by the powerful but unaffiliated "G-Self" mobile suit. He manages to capture the G-Self while piloting a "Recten" maintenance mobile suit. However, seeing the G-Self's pilot, a young space pirate named Aida Rayhunton, stirs something within him, as does the G-Self which he was sure he'd never seen before. Why does the G-Self accept Bellri as a pilot?

MAINBellri is a cunning, smug and cheerful boy who grew up with a workaholic mother who was never around. Although he doesn't resent her for it, he does get annoyed by it sometimes. He is easily attracted to pretty girls, instantly falling for Aida Surugan and later making eyes at Raraiya Monday when she regained her memories.

MAINThough she has very strong ideals and beliefs, she also has a tendency to blame herself when things are go wrong and can be very emotional. She is reckless, constantly placing herself in danger, and often acts without thinking. After traveling to Towasanga, Aida comes to terms with her abilities and reigns in her recklessness, becoming more obedient and showing better cohesion with her allies.

MAINHe initially appears as a kind and compassionate person as shown when he stood up for Bellri Zenam when a person tripped him up for a joke, and scolded him for it. He normally acts mature and responsible, but his status as a Kuntala weighs upon him and may blind him to his surroundings. Making a name for himself as a Kuntala becomes an obsession for him as he throws his identity away and assumes the persona of 'Captain Mask'. He does not trust those of more privileged bloodlines, irrationally believing they would mistreat a Kuntala like himself and being jealous of them.
