Hokuto no Ken: The Origins

Ryu

Ryu (リュウ, Ryū) is the orphaned son of Raoh. He was raised by Hakuri and his wife after Raoh's death. At a young age, he already shows his wit and bravery and possesses his father's eyes. When the Hakuris are killed by Kōketsu's men, Kenshiro becomes his personal mentor in order to help him avenge his adoptive parents. After Kōketsu is defeated, he accompanies Kenshiro to the kingdoms of Sava and Blanca, helping Ken in his many ordeals. Having witnessed the sorrows of the likes of Asam and Baran, Kenshiro leaves Ryu under the care of Balga, promising to meet him again when the time comes to decide the next Hokuto Shin Ken successor.

Kenshiro Kasumi

霞拳志郎

Kenshirō Kasumi (霞 拳志郎, Kasumi Kenshirō) (character voice Kōichi Yamadera) is the main character of Souten no Ken and 62nd successor to Hokuto Shinken. Known in Shanghai as Yánwáng (Chinese and Japanese: 閻王; Wade-Giles: Yen-wang; rōmaji: En'ō). Loves smoking cigarettes (because "I bleed easily so it helps to clog up my arteries"), reading, playing the piano, has an excellent sense of smell and a photographic memory. He is also fluent in Chinese, Japanese, German and ancient Hebrew.

Yoko

Yōko (ヨウコ) was the girlfriend of Taizanji deserter Ryu. The pair were pursued by Denki Saito, but were saved by Kenshiro. She ultimately shot to death by Baiken Kinbu's troops.

Yuki

Yuki (ユキ) is the girlfriend of Kenshiro Kasumi in the Hokuto no Ken pilot manga. She witnesses the assassination of Minister of Justice Sasaki and is killed by Goda. Yuria shares a great resemblance with her.

Goda

Gōda (剛田) is a character who appears in the original Hokuto no Ken one-shot manga published before the serialized version.
