Akao Hiiragi lives in Japan, and she has lost her entire memory except for three years ago. But one day she meets a mysterious man named Ryohei who tells her that she is a "cognate"; a person with special powers that enable them to pilot robots called Jinki. All across the world, a mysterious phenomenon is occurring, known as the "Lost Life Phenomenon", where an entire town is destroyed from a series of mysterious nuclear-like explosions. Akao discovers that this is not a natural phenomenon, and that it is being caused by a mysterious and evil group called the Hachi Shojin, who are also cognates, and pilot their own Jinkis. Even though she hates to fight, Akao must pilot a Jinki to protect the ones she loves.

MAINElnie Tachibana (エルニィ立花, Erunii Tachibana) is a young tomboy genius with an IQ over 300 and grand-daughter to one of Angel's former Jinki scientists. Elnie is a budding Jinki technician as well as an able Jinki pilot. Her favorite sport is soccer. Elnie first met Aoba and Ryouhei in Venezuela when they were escaping from the military with Moribito's core. With Elnie's help, the two were able to rebuild the Moribito and fight again.

Kokusho (黒将, Kokushou) is the founder of Kyomu and the main antagonist of the Jinki: EXTEND series. Formerly known as Hakuya Hino (日野白矢, Hino Hakuya) and former student of Genta Ogawara, he pilots the Moribito Type-01 until he was revealed to be Aoba Tsuzaki's father.

Kouse is Shouse's co-pilot partner of the Schneigar CX in the Jinki (series). An orphan scouted by the Venezuela Military, he and Shouse were ordered to stop the autonomous actions of "Angel" in Venezuela. Aoba later befriends him and they work together to stop Kokushou, and later becomes a regular member of "Angel".
