本郷猛

Takeshi Hongo (本郷 猛, Hongō Takeshi) is one of the two main protagonists of Kamen Rider. He is a young student who was kidnapped by Shocker and remodeled into a Cyborg (改造人間, Kaizō-Ningen), later escaping and deciding to use his powers for good as the Kamen Rider (仮面ライダー, Kamen Raidā, Masked Rider). Though he temporarily left Japan in the hands of his successor Hayato Ichimonji, he returned and retroactively bore the name Kamen Rider 1 (仮面ライダー1号, Kamen Raidā Ichi-Gō, Masked Rider 1).

一文字隼人

Hayato Ichimonji (一文字 隼人, Ichimonji Hayato) is one of the two main protagonists of Kamen Rider. A freelance photographer who was turned into a Cyborg (改造人間, Kaizō-Ningen) by Shocker to defeat Takeshi Hongo, Hayato is later saved by the former and takes his place to defend Japan as the Kamen Rider (仮面ライダー, Kamen Raidā, Masked Rider). When his predecessor returned from his battles overseas, Hayato would then assume the title of Kamen Rider 2 (仮面ライダー２号, Kamen Raidā Nigō, Masked Rider 2).
