Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu

Kyouta Tsubaki is the most popular guy in school; guys admire him and girls want to be with him. However, Kyouta only likes the "old-fashioned" type and the girls who "study their brains out." He is intelligent, always ranking first despite being asleep in class often -- which annoys the main protagonist: Tsubaki Hibino. In the first chapter, he appears fascinated with Tsubaki and teases her. After she cuts his hair in class he takes her to a secluded area of the school with the intention that she pay him back for what she's done. Tsubaki ends up cutting more of Kyouta's hair. After being momentarily phased by her straight-forwardness he steals a kiss, vowing to make her his next target. Then saying how he'll take all of her first times. Their first date occurs after Kyouta tells her he will help her with an upcoming school festival if she asks him out. She agrees. Although the date ends with Tsubaki in tears, Kyouta reveals that he has feelings for her despite his callous ways. Before Tsubaki, Kyouta teased girls and the moment they confessed to him, he dropped them. H is past is complicated, as his mother left he and his father when he was young and a teacher he had a crush on proved to be less than innocent (which may explain why he likes innocent girls). He has no respect for women, and groups them in the category: "woman."Kyouta's biggest interest are stars and outer space, and he says that it is the reason he needs to get good grades. His interest in stars plays a major role in his relationship with Tsubaki, who often tries to help him further his dream.

Hibino Tsubaki is the main protagonist of Kyou Koi wo Hajimemasu. She is also the classmate, girlfriend, and wife of Tsubaki Kyouta.

Nishiki Hasegawa is close friend of Tsubaki Kyouta and works with him at a karaoke palace. He greatly respects Kyouta because he owes him a lot. He seems to like pretty girls as seen as he unexpected meets Hibino Sakura for the first time in the school festival. He shows a very nice friend for Kyouta and sometimes work together. He instantly falls for Hibino Tsubaki's younger sister, Sakura, and currently dating her.

Hibino Sakura is Hibino Tsubaki's younger sister. Tsubaki enjoys spending time fixing Sakura's hair every morning before going to school. She has a kind personality, she is more outgoing and fashion forward than her sister. She meets Tsubaki Kyouta at Tsubaki's school festival and harbors a crush on him, but is rejected during a summer trip. She is a huge supporter of Tsubaki's relationship with Kyouta, and often gives her advice on what to do. However, she is currently dating Kyouta's friend, Nishiki Hasegawa. It is implied that they have had sex on many occasions. She often shares her clothes with Tsubaki when she is on a date Kyouta. Since Sakura likes fashion it is revealed that she aspires to enter this industry, selling clothes from all the brands she likes.

Yuki is Tsubaki Kyouta previous girlfriend. She is intellectual, popular, and considerly beautiful by Hibino Tsubaki. She first arrives at Kyouta's class to see his ranks and tries to remind him for breaking up. After they unexpectedly kiss, Tsubaki comes in sight, jealous about the situation and almost wants to cry (this was happening two times). Kyouta cares more about Tsubaki rather than Yuki. Tsubaki admires her so much even calls her "senpai". She is also a close friend to Nishiki Hasegawa and Miho Ichikura. Months later, she comes at Kyouta's job and see Tsubaki wearing a feminine Santa Claus dress. She thinks that Kyouta likes girls in cosplay. She explains everything about Kyouta's personality and advices Tsubaki several times how to treat Kyouta as she had before. She glad to see that Kyouta had a girl who was better than her and leave the rest to Tsubaki. She greatly supports their relationship. Due to this, she doesn't show up to Kyouta ever again though it is shown she has feelings for him while she was bothered to the relationship before how she offered her body but he always rejected saying he rather always do it with the girl he likes and cares about.

Miho Ichikura is Hibino Tsubaki first friend at school. She first helps out Tsubaki when she is being bullied at school so she can look good in front of Tsubaki Kyouta, whom she has harbored a crush on since middle school. When Tsubaki starts dating with Kyouta, They briefly go through a rough patch until she ends up saving her from almost being raped from two guys who Arisa called them to scare Tsubaki. She manages to get over Kyouta after and become Tsubaki's true friend. She offers advice to Tsubaki on how to deal with her feelings for Kyouta.

Kikuzuki Nako is Hibino Tsubaki first friend during studies at her new high school. For her, people who are straight forward and disagree with her, she is totally admires them. She first confronts Kyouta and Tsubaki in their new school, she seems to have a crush for Tsubaki Kyouta. During their study, Tsubaki was being treated bad by a girl who wears spectacles. Nako comes to help her, and asks the girl to go. Tsubaki says that she doesn't want to fail for test during this new school to Nako. Though Nako doesn't expect that Tsubaki is talking to much about her relationship with Kyouta. Nako wonders who is he and tries to make friend with her.

ハルステッド 万央

Nickname "Hal"(or Haru), he is half Japanese boy Tsubaki Kyouta's good friend from America. When they were in middle school, he began dating with a girl named Rica, but they break up after she was allegedly harassed by Kyouta. Because of this, he targets Hibino Tsubaki, as he had sworn to ruin any future love of Kyouta's. Eventually, Hal finds out Rica deception after the school festival. He reconciles with Kyouta, and let's go of his feelings for Rica.
