Born to a poor aristrocratic family, Reinhard von Lohengramm (Japanese: ラインハルト・フォン・ローエングラム) was a military genius and political idealist. He overthrew the 500 year old Goldenbaum Dynasty and established himself as the new emperor, or Kaiser. Reinhard began a number of reforms, remodeling the Galactic Empire into a nation that was, in the words of Yang Wenli, "not by the people, but for the people."
