Sheryl is a tall teenage girl with wavy waist-length strawberry-blond hair (a blend of light red and blonde hues) that has short bangs hanging over her forehead, blue eyes, she possesses a slender frame along with a medium-sized bust and she is usually seen wearing a pair of Fold Quartz earrings that once belonged to her late grandmother Mao Nome.

She aspires to be an idol singer like the "Galactic Fairy" Sheryl Nome, sought the affections of Alto Saotome, she is related to Brera Sterne and she has pet whom she calls "Ai-kun".

Alto Saotome

Alto is an attractive young man with waist-length or hip-length bluish-gray hair (when let down) that is usually tied into a ponytail by a red string which makes him more feminine with a single long hair strand hanging in the middle of his face and shorter bangs hanging above his eyebrows while he has chin-length hair strands hanging on either side, brown eyes and a well-built body (where he is seen shirtless in Episode 1 when he gives Ranka Lee his uniform shirt after she got entirely drenched, Episode 4 when he falls asleep from exhaustion, Episode 13 while washing himself with river water, Macross Frontier: The False Songstress when taking a shower and Macross Frontier: The Wings of Farewell when hanging out at the beach).

She is a very serious and professional mecha ace pilot in her macronized form, but resembles a child in both appearance and mannerisms as a miclone due to a genetic defect.

Mikhail Blanc

He is Alto Saotome's brother-in-arms in S.M.S. Skull Squadron and classmate at Mihoshi Academy who is of Zolan-descent and is consdiered a brilliant sniper and ladies' man. He has a relationship with Klan Klang, who also happens to be his childhood friend. He had an older sister named Jessica Blanc who died priot to the events of the series.

Ozma Lee

He is the leader of Skull Squadron and a member of the private military firm, S.M.S. Few know him to be an avid fan of Fire Bomber. He had a previous relationship with Catherine Glass. He also happens to be very protective of his adopted younger sister, Ranka Lee. He loves baking Pine Cake for his friends and family.

Grace O'Connor

In Macross Frontier: The Wings of Farewell, she is known aboard the Macross Galaxy as Colonel Grace Godunwa. In the same film, her character has been altered to be a more caring mother figure to Sheryl Nome. In Macross The Ride, she the superior officer of Maris Stella, the pilot of the YF-27-5 Shaher Femail conducting an illegal data gathering operation during the Vanquish Race.

He is a variable fighter pilot for Skull Squadron in the S.M.S. and Alto Saotome's junior classmate at Mihoshi Academy. He is the heir to the LAI Corporation, which had a research branch in the Macross Frontier fleet.
