Keiichi Morisato was a typical college student, a failure with women, struggling to get through his classes, and in general living a pretty nondescript life. That is, until he dialed the wrong number and accidentally summoned the Norse goddess Belldandy. Not believing Belldandy was a goddess who could grant his every wish, Keiichi wished for her to stay with him forever. As they say: be careful what you wish for! Now bound to Earth and at Keiichi's side for life, the lives of this most un-normal goddess and most lucky human will never be the same again.

MAINBelldandy (ベルダンヂィー Berudandī) is a goddess and the title character of the Oh! My Goddess series. She first appeared to Keiichi to grant him a wish. His subsequent wish, "I wish for a goddess like you to stay by my side forever", binds Belldandy to Earth and subsequently sets off the main plot of the series.

MAINUrd (ウルド Urudo) is a goddess and one the main characters. She is Belldandy's and Skuld's older half-sister. She appeared early in the series in order to interfere with the relationship between her half-sister and Keiichi Morisato but was punished and forced to move in with them from thereon in.

MAINKeiichi Morisato (森里 螢一) is the main character of the series. A student at Nekomi Institute of Technology and a member of the NIT Motor Club, Keiichi accidentally dials the Goddess Relief Office one day and summons the goddess Belldandy who offers him a wish. After wishing for her to be by his side forever due to her kind nature, he and Belldandy move into a temple and have been together ever since.
