Xerxes Break

Xerxes Break (ザークシーズ＝ブレイク, Zaakushiizu Bureiku), often referred to by his Pandora alias "Mad Hatter" (イカレ帽子屋 (マッドハッター) , Ikare Boushiya「Maddohattā」), is a supporting protagonist from Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts. He works as a representative of Pandora under the Rainsworth Dukedom. It was he who organized the efforts to facilitate Oz Vessalius's escape from the Abyss, though this ends up being in vain when Oz escapes on his own. Break conscripts Oz and Alice as his subordinates after threatening to arrest them. Most Pandora missions are delivered to Oz and his friends via Break, and Break serves as a mentor figure to the other major protagonists.

Oz Vessalius

Oz Vessalius (オズ＝ベザリウス, Ozu Bezariusu) is the protagonist of Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts. He is the eldest child of the Vessalius Dukedom and its rightful heir. During his Coming-of-Age Ceremony he is thrown into the mystical prison the Abyss, where he creates an Illegal Contract with Alice, a Chain also known as the B-Rabbit. Under threat of arrest, he joins the government research organization Pandora.

Gilbert Nightray

Gilbert Nightray (ギルバート＝ナイトレイ, Girubāto Naitorei), usually nicknamed Gil (ギル, Giru) or Raven (鴉 (レイブン) , Karasu「Reibun」), is one of the protagonists of Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts. He is the childhood friend and former valet of Oz Vessalius. An amnesiac, he first met Oz fifteen years before the events of the story with no memory of his family or past.

Alice

アリス

Alice (アリス, Arisu) is the heroine of Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts. She meets Oz Vessalius, the story's protagonist, after he was dropped into the Abyss. The two form an Illegal Contract, unsealing Alice's powers as the B-Rabbit and allowing the two of them to escape. They then begin to work for Pandora, a government research organization, under threat of arrest. Pressured to release Oz from his contract, Alice reveals she has left the Abyss in hopes of regaining her lost memories. She agrees to terminate her Contract with Oz once her memories are recovered.

Elliot Nightray

Elliot Nightray (エリオット＝ナイトレイ, Eriotto Naitorei), sometimes called by the pet name "Elli" (エリ, Eri) is a supporting character from Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts. The youngest child of the Nightray Dukedom, one of the Four Great Dukedoms, Elliot is a student at the prestigious Lutwidge Academy. He is nearly always accompanied by his valet and best friend, Leo. Due to the rivalry between the Nightray and Vessalius families, Elliot holds a strong resentment for those of the Vessalius Dukedom. Though Gilbert, Oz Vessalius's best friend, is Elliot's adoptive elder brother, the two are estranged, and Gilbert's testimony does not curry Elliot's favor for Oz.

Sharon Rainsworth

Sharon Rainsworth (シャロン＝レインズワース, Sharon Reinzuwaasu) is a supporting protagonist from Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts. A daughter to one of the Four Great Dukedoms, she first meets the protagonist Oz Vessalius at his Coming-of-Age Ceremony when she was thirteen years old. When they meet again ten years later, she has Legally Contracted with Equus and joined Pandora. However, her Contract strains her body such she has not visibly aged since she and Oz first met. With Xerxes Break as her retainer, she represents the Rainsworth Dukedom.

Glen Baskerville

グレン・バスカヴィル

Glen Baskerville (グレン＝バスカヴィル, Guren Basukaviru) is the major antagonist of Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts. He is the leader of the Baskerville Clan, the major villainous group who are tied to the Abyss and its warped power, and all members obey his every word. It was by his word that his underlings slaughtered all humans in the former capital and cast the city into the Abyss one hundred years ago, in the event known as the Tragedy of Sablier. He had been defeated and killed by his best friend Jack Vessalius, who instated the Four Great Dukedoms and Pandora to oppose Glen's forces.
