Teppei Arima is a second-year high school student who lost both of his parents in a traffic accident on their way home from a family trip. His grandfather, Isshin Arima, happens to wield the puppet strings in Japan’s vast economy and demands that Teppei becomes his successor as the head of the Arima Group. To prepare for his debut into high society, Teppei enrolls in an elite academy for the scions of the rich and powerful.

MAINTeppei Arima (有馬 哲平 Arima Teppei) is the main protagonist. Prior to the series, Teppei grew up in a happy family with Mr. Kobayashi (who is a noodle shop owner) and Kanae Kobayashi. One day, he learns that his parents were killed in an automobile accident when he was coming home from school, but he does believe that it is the truth. He is then picked up by Isshin Arima who is the owner of the Arima Financial Combine, a very wealthy and perhaps the most powerful industrial group in Japan. Isshin then adopts Teppei intending to make him the successor to the Arima corporation as his mother was the original successor. To prepare him for succession his grandfather enrolled Teppei in the most prestigious private school in Japan.

MAINAlfred (アルフレッド Arufureddo) is one of the butlers of the Hazelrink family who has served Charlotte Hazelrink, the Princess of Hazelrink ever since she was a baby and has sworn his life to protect her as his devotion runs so deeply that he is overly protective of Charlotte. Alfred is a very good fist-fighter and an expert of martial arts where he is so vigorous that Teppei Arima believes he will live to see 100.
