Senpai is an Otokonoko

花岡まこと

Makoto Hanaoka (花岡 まこと, Hanaoka Makoto) is one of the three main protagonists of the Senpai Is an Otokonoko series, along with Ryuuji Taiga and Saki Aoi.

The first two prominent traits of her personality is her honest, carefree approach to say whatever is on her mind and her perverted side. Though she acts like a girl sometimes, in reality she is a tomboy who is quick to understand the emotions of others and even knows how others view their friends with little or no information that tends to be precisely accurate. She is a highly socially gifted person who uses her natural charisma to whittle away the doubts and self-deprecation of her crush and wishes to accept them however possible. This accepting nature was instilled in her from a young age from her father, who often compared humans to whales and how even if something is socially unacceptable in one pod, it's usually up to the new pod to accept any quirks of any new member. Kindness and Acceptance goes hand in hand in any society. Because of this she doesn't hold the notion that cross-dressing is any weirder then a woman who dresses as a man. When challenged by others why she finds an otokonoko attractive she lists her viewpoints and generally says "abnormalities to one person can totally be normal to another" attitude. Her negative trait is hiding behind a facade of a understanding person to avoid being dislike or disappointing to those she cherishes, feeling her sudden abandonment by her mother and her work obsessed father as her fault for being the reason she ruined her family, and when her grandfather suddenly passed, when she was only with her grandparents for a few weeks; it cemented to her that she might be the catalyst to the misfortune of others, hoping that a "special" someone would look at her and take care of her lonely heart and see the world in a brighter fashion. Through all her positive and likable demeanor she wants someone to pierce through her facade and see she is suffering from loneliness and stress of blaming her parents responsibilities on herself.

When she was younger, Hanaoka enjoyed wearing makeup, and clothes. However one day, she saw someone who was wearing the same nail polish as her throwaway ones, and looked like her father. After confronting him about it, she became disgusted, and eventually became estranged from her father. This was part of the catalyst to her treating Makoto harshly when she started seeing that he liked cute things and led to her being more controlling of his life in order to make him act more like a boy.
