On his fifteenth birthday, Yūsuke discovered that he was not truly related to his mother, Akane, and his sister, Rumi. His biological parents were Akane's close friends Haru and Ryōsuke, who were both involved in separate car-related accidents on the day of his birth. His mother died shortly after he and his twin brother Sasuke were born, and his father died to save a child in the street.

Kazuyoshi Usui

笛吹和義

Kazuyoshi Usui (笛吹 和義), or Switch (スイッチ), as he is more commonly called, is the brains of the Sket Dan. As a result of the events that happened in his life, he opts to speak through a voice synthesizer on his computer.

Hime Onizuka

Hime Onizuka (鬼塚 一愛), or Himeko (ヒメコ) as she is more commonly called, is a member of the Sket Dan who wields a field hockey stick.

Sasuke Tsubaki

Sasuke Tsubaki (椿 佐介) is the former vice-president and current president of Kaimei High School's Student Council. He is generally referred to only by his last name, Tsubaki.

Soujirou Agata

Sōjirō Agata (安形 惣司郎) is the former president of Kaimei High School's Student Council. When he stepped down near the end of his third school year, Sasuke Tsubaki replaced him.

Kikuno Asahina (浅雛 菊乃, Asahina Kikuno), also known as Daisy (デージー / 雛菊), is the secretary of Kaimei High School's Student Council.

Michiru Shinba (榛葉 道流, Shinba Michiru) is the former manager of general affairs for Kaimei High School's Student Council. After he steps down during his third school year, Kiri replaces him.

Roman Saotome (早乙女 浪漫, Saotome Roman) is a frequent visitor to the Sket Dan who loves old-fashioned shōjo manga. She won an honorable mention for her manga Sudden Temptation in the Betsumar shōjo magazine.

Reiko Yuuki

結城澪呼

Reiko Yūki (結城 澪呼, Yūki Reiko) is a member of the Occult Research Club who is knowledgeable about spiritual, suspicious subjects. She is Switch's sworn rival and the two have had several disputes over the existence of ghosts.
