Slam Dunk

桜木花道

Hanamichi Sakuragi (桜木 花道 Sakuragi Hanamichi) is the main protagonist of the Slam Dunk series. He plays as a power forward (and occasionally as a backup center) for the Shohoku High School basketball team.

三井寿

Hisashi Mitsui (三井 寿 Mitsui Hisashi) is the Shooting Guard of the Shohoku Basketball Team. Though he was on hiatus due to his knee injury, he still has the skills to put the team on a win.

流川楓

Rukawa is a tall, attractive young man with short black hair and blue eyes. Unlike most of the male characters, he's drawn with eyelashes that emphasize his sharp facial features. He usually is seen wearing the Shohoku basketball team uniform with a black band in his left arm and Air Jordan 5 - "Fire Red" colorway as his basketball shoes during games and practices. In his casual clothes he is usually seen wearing baggy type clothing.

赤木剛憲

Takenori Akagi (赤木 剛憲 Akagi Takenori) is the team captain and Center of the Shohoku basketball team. He is also Haruko Akagi's older brother.

赤木晴子

Haruko Akagi (赤木 晴子, Akagi Haruko) is the younger sister of Takenori Akagi and the love interest of Hanamichi Sakuragi who was responsible for uncovering his potential in basketball.

清田信長

Nobunaga Kiyota (清田 信長, Kiyota Nobunaga) is a freshman at Kainan High and is the only freshmen in the team's starting lineup. Like Hanamichi Sakuragi of Shohoku, his antics often make him a source of embarrassment for his team.

Jun Uozomi (魚住 純 Uozumi Jun) is a third-year and the captain of the Ryonan High School basketball team, as well as the center. After Ryonan lost to Shohoku in the Kanagawa final four tournament, Uozumi left the basketball team to start his training as a chef.

相田弥生

Yayoi Aida (相田 弥生 Aida Yayoi) is Hikoichi Aida's older sister, who works as a reporter for a weekly basketball magazine. Even though her brother plays for Ryonan, she is mostly designated to cover Shohoku matches, in which she is always impressesed about Shohoku players' performances, as they mostly play stronger opponents like Kainan or Sannoh. She is almost always accompanied by a bubbly trainee called Nakamura (中村), who does the driving when they need to go from gym to gym even though he drives slowly, as he had just gotten his driving license. She also has a crush on Ryonan ace Sendoh.

Ryoji Ikegami (池上 良治, Ikegami Ryōji) is the vice-captain of the Ryonan basketball team, and its best perimeter defender. Ikegami started for Ryonan during Kicchou Fukuda's suspension.
