Kei Takishima

滝島彗

Kei is one of the main protagonists in the series. He is ranked 1st in the entire school which is why he has the habit of calling Hikari "Miss Second Place". He is the son of the CEO of Takishima Corporation, making him next in line for the company. He is Hikari Hanazono's undefeated rival. Kei becomes Hikari's boyfriend and they become engaged later on, making Hikari his fiancée.

Hikari Hanazono

Hikari is one of the main protagonists of the series. Her name means 'light', in Japanese. Hikari holds the 2nd position in her entire school in grades. Because of that, she regards Kei Takishima her rival because he holds the school's 1st position. She is also called "Miss Second Place" by Kei.

Tadashi Karino

Tadashi has medium length wild dark brown hair, brown eyes, and darker skin tone. Usually he wears the standard S.A uniform, a white blazer with the S.A. logo near the pocket, pale blue shirt, black tie, and dark blue pants. During the warmer seasons, he, along with the other male S.A. members, wears a short sleeved white shirt with the S.A. logo on the sleeve and near the pocket, green striped tie, and green pants.

Megumi Yamamoto

Megumi is a very pretty teenage girl who has long, wavy light brown hair with delicate bangs and two shorter pieces in the front. Her skin is pale and very light. Throughout the anime she is usually seen wearing the S.A uniform which consist of the S.A school uniform, a navy blue skirt, pale green shirt, pale yellow tie, and white blazer with the S.A. logo on the pocket. During the warmer months, Megumi wears a short sleeved white shirt with the S.A logo on the sleeve and pocket, purple striped tie and purple skirt.

Yahiro Saiga

When he was young, Yahiro had no friends, for the most part because Yahiro is a carefree young man with a sinister side. Yahiro is kind and gentle but appears to be heartless and deceptive. This is, however, his only way of protecting Akira, whom he loved. He's a handsome young man who has pink, almost shoulder length hair and has pinkish brown eyes. He also has his ears pierced. Like other male characters, he has a slender build, a little shorter than Kei and Ryuu, but taller than Jun and Tadashi. He has light skin tone.

Akira Toudou

東堂明

Akira Toudou (Toudou Akira, 東堂 明) is a member of the Special A and is ranked 6th in the school and is often the one who cooks for all the members, introducing them to various snacks and teas. She is the daughter of an airline company president and is childhood friends with Kei Takishima and Yahiro Saiga. Later in the series she also becomes Tadashi Karino's girlfriend.

Ryuu Tsuji

Ryu holds the 7th position in school, although his test scores are a poor reflection of his intellectual prowess. He is in 7th place mainly because of the twins - Megumi tends to fall asleep and Jun becomes bored during tests, which results in Ryuu focusing his attention on them instead of his own exam. This is proven in an anime episode, when he answers 1000 questions in 10 minutes, and manages to achieve full marks. He has been close to Megumi and Jun since they were very young; it is evident that he cares for the twins very much and that the three of them see each other as of the CEO of a sports company and one of his family.
