Kurisu Makise (牧瀬 紅莉栖, Makise Kurisu) is a genius girl who graduated from university at the age of seventeen, a neuroscientist at the Brain Science Institute at Viktor Chondria University, and also a member of the Future Gadget Laboratory.

Rintarou Okabe

Rintaro Okabe (岡部 倫太郎, Okabe Rintarō), often nicknamed Okarin (オカリン), is the self-proclaimed insane mad scientist Hououin Kyouma (鳳凰院 凶真, Hōōin Kyōma). He lives in Ikebukuro with his parents, where he is neighbors with his childhood friend Mayuri Shiina, but temporarily moved into the Future Gadget Lab over the summer of 2010.

Mayuri Shiina

Mayuri Shiina (椎名 まゆり, Shiina Mayuri), also known as Mayushii☆, is Rintaro Okabe's childhood friend, a part-time worker at MayQueen+Nyan² and a member of the Future Gadget Laboratory. She is a fan of cute things, like the Upas from the in-universe RaiNet Kakeru series, an avid cosplay maker and a friend of Luka Urushibara and Faris NyanNyan.

Suzuha Amane

阿万音鈴羽

She is in fact a time traveler from 2036 who, under the guise of John Titor, seeks to prevent SERN, at the command of the Committee of 300, from creating a Time Machine that will lead to a dystopian future. Although she is initially unaware of it, she is the daughter of Itaru Hashida and Yuki Amane.

Luka Urushibara

漆原るか

Although biologically male, Luka has an extremely feminine appearance, which causes him much trouble (and gets him a lot of attention) from men (even Daru was attracted to Luka's appearance at one point). He is very slim, has thin arms and a lanky body.

Itaru Hashida

橋田至

Itaru Hashida (橋田 至, Hashida Itaru), also known by his nickname Daru, his online handle DaSH ("Daru the Super Hacker") and Barrel Titor is an experienced hacker and a hardcore otaku, a member of the Future Gadget Laboratory and a close friend of Rintaro Okabe who eventually becomes the husband of Yuki Amane and the father of Suzuha Amane.
