MAINBirdy Cephon Altera also known as Shion Arita (有田しおん, Arita Shion) is the eponymous character and main protagonist of Birdy the Mighty. After a terrible accident, Birdy murders Tsutomu Senkawa and as a result has to sustain his mind in her own body, making both of them have to learn to live with their new confusing situation. As an officer working for the Space Federation Police she takes on the task of finding and bringing to justice several criminals including Christella Revi, Geega and Bacillus.

MAINTsutomu Senkawa is the deuteragonist of Birdy the Mighty. An average high schooler, Tsutomu ran into Birdy Cephon during one of her missions, she confused him for the criminal she was chasing and killed him as a result, his mind having been transplanted into Birdy's head in order to save his life, both of them have to learn to live with each other and respect each other's occupations while trying to keep their secret hidden from everyone in Tsutomu's life.

SUPPORTINGChristella Revi is the main antagonist of the series and the one Birdy is trying to capture, a prodigy turned terrorist, it is revealed in the reboot manga that Revi seeks to liberate the oppressed Altans of the Space Federation and will use any means to do so. She is usually accompanied by Gomez and several marionettes who protect her from all harm.
