Venus Versus Virus

Lucia Nahashi is a strong, 15-year-old girl who lead the fights against Viruses alongside the other members of the Venus Vanguard, sworn to fight and kill all Viruses. During the day she runs a clothing and jewelry shop called Venus Vanguard. Some clients--those who come in with one of the fliers and happen to have the sight--can read the hidden message about Lucia's Virus hunting business and come to her for help.

Sumire Takahana is a young high school girl (age 14) and the newest member of the Venus Vanguard, despite being terribly scared of Viruses. While initially she cannot be of much help to Lucia, they eventually find out that whenever her body reacts to the special chemical used to defeat Viruses (the so called Vaccine), she goes into a "Berserker Mode", or becomes a living Anti-Virus. With this strange ability, she becomes stronger and violent, and is capable of defeating Viruses with her bare hands. However, in Berserker Mode, she cannot tell friend from foe.

Though in the anime she seems to be rather passive, in the manga Layla gives off a more sinister presence. In the anime, Layla loves konpeito candy as much as Lola loves chocolate. In the manga however, both twins love to eat chocolate pocky. Also in the manga, on the first occasion Layla is seen hunting, she returns to the base before everyone else does with a filled quota because it was tea time.

ローラ

Lola (Laura in the English version of the anime) is one of the protagonists in this series. She's a mysterious blonde girl who lives with Lucia and Nahashi. She has a twin sister named Layla who is one of the antagonists in the series.

Nene Mikumo is Sumire's female cousin who always tries to look out for her, like an older sister. The night Sumire asks to move into Venus Vanguard, she is secretly watching and jumps to the wrong conclusion.

Youji is a little boy whom Lucia and Sumire saved from a virus. He is the twin brother of Tsukuyo. He was saved because his twin sister asked for help at Venus Vanguard in order to protect him.

草薙与識

Yoshiki Kusanaji is a young man Sumire met one day in a park while he was reading a book. After a few more meetings together (in the same park) while exchanging books to read, Yoshiki starts to develop romantic feelings for Sumire, and she for him.

リュシフ

Lucif is Lucia's father who left before she was born to find the path to the True World. His past is filled with mysteries, and Nahashi refuses to talk about the subject with Lucia. In the anime, it is thought he turned himself into a Virus so he could obtain the True World. In the manga, it appears that Aion possessed him.

三雲理久

Riku Mikumo Riku is Nene's younger brother who has a crush on Sumire. Multiple times, Riku attempts to ask Sumire out on a date, but something always interferes, leaving him heartbroken each time.
