Miyu is usually seen with twin ponytails on both sides of her head, which is tied with two identical blue hair ties. She has blue-green eyes.

Most of the time, she is seen wearing long-sleeved shirts (sometimes with a coat) and pleated skirts. In Wake Up, Girls! Shadow of Youth Yoshino had her hairstyle shorten, this later grew longer to the shoulders during Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter, make her had the most hairstyle changes than any other character in the series.

島田真夢

Mayu has medium-length black hair, similar to Yoshino Nanase's before she cut hers. She has blue eyes and is fairly average in terms of height compared to other girls in the group like Miyu Okamoto or Kaya Kikuma.

片山実波

Minami is often compared to the sun, being vibrant and energetic. She was recruited after Junko Tange saw her winning a local folk song singing competition. She is also known to sing at a local home for senior citizens who give her their support during her concerts. Despite not being the youngest member, Minami is considered as the "little sister" of the group. She and Miyu Okamoto are usually the mood makers of the group due to their bubbly and cheerful personalities. Even so, Minami can easily get nervous but thanks to the "protection charm" Grandma Isokawa gave her, she is able to overcome her stage fright. She is always heard saying, "I want to perform again", and is happy every time the group is given a job. She is always punctual no matter what event and always puts others first before herself. She is also known for having a big appetite and saying her catchphrase, "Ume nya!"

久海菜々美

A very confident girl who is prideful of herself and easy to talk to with, Nanami is the youngest member of the group. She constantly practices singing, acting, and playing the piano in hopes of becoming a successful idol. Her dream is to one day perform at a Hikarizuka Theater, a type of Takarazuka play. After an overnight trip to Kesennuma with the group she decides to devote herself to WUG after hearing about Mayu's history.

林田藍里

Airi is a simple girl with no particular abilities, but with a lot of drive and is a hard worker. She is often nervous and self-conscious about not being as professional or skilled as her friends, but thanks to the support from Mayu Shimada and her friends, she has gained a lot more confidence. She is always happy, never gives up and is supportive towards her friends and people around her. Her friends have described her as the "mother" of the group as she is always looking out for them.

菊間夏夜

As the oldest member of the group, Kaya always put others first before her. She is generous and always supportive towards her friends and family. Kaya was originally from Kesennuma, living with her aunt after her parents died when she was young. Kaya then left for Sendai and worked various part-time jobs after the fishing vessel "Shotomaru", in which her childhood friend was among the passengers, went missing 3 years prior to the start of the series. She joined the Wake Up, Girls! on a whim and originally planned to leave if she got bored, but has since dedicated herself to be with the group. She is described by other members of the group as often having an aggressive and blunt personality.
