She was presumed to have died in Kafka's experiment along with the rest of Rimhakka's population, but somehow survived (though having lost two limbs and her memories in the process). After the incident she was adopted by a couple of travelers and lived with them to act as "human puppet" in their stage performances as a source of income. After ten years however she was sold to a rich family in Reburganzee, who promised her real prosthetic limbs, and worked for them as a servant. While working, she was bullied by other servants and treated like dirt because of her prosthetic limbs. One night, after being told to collect water barefoot outside, she met Girunan, who just escaped her master's grasps.
