Misuzu is a beautiful and cute-looking girl with extremely long, thick blonde hair that always tied in a ponytail (Haruko Kamio accidentally cut Misuzu's hair up to her shoulder in Episode 11) and deep blue eyes like the shade of the sky.

Haruko Kamio (神尾 晴子, Kamio Haruko?) is a supporting character in Air. She is the aunt and foster mother of Misuzu Kamio.

神奈備命

Kanna is an exceptionally beautiful light-skinned girl of high school age with flowing purple/blue hair that she ties in the front with red ribbons with two bells at the ends and blue eyes. She is usually seen wearing a large pink kimono and a light tan/green kimono when she escaped from the shrine. She also has a set of white wings, which she usually keeps hidden to look like an ordinary girl.

国崎往人

Yukito is a wanderer traveling across the country in order to find the 'girl in the sky', a goal each generation of his family has passed on for a thousand years. Yukito lives off his trade, a special form of string-less puppeteering that was taught to him by his mother before she died. He is a successor and descendant of Ryūya and Uraha, and is implied to be Ryūya's reincarnation.

As she was closer to her father when she was younger, her mother was always alone. Minagi has an unborn little sister whose name was Michiru.

ポテト

Potato is a stray dog that lives in town who follows Kano around often. His only word is "piko". Yukito met Potato when the latter stole the former's puppet one day; this is also how he met Kano. Potato has also been helpful in finding Kano when she goes into a daze and wanders around the town at night.

霧島佳乃

Kano is Misuzu's classmate and becomes an acquaintance of hers in the anime. Her sister, Hijiri Kirishima, is a doctor and has a clinic which she inherited from their parents; their mother died when Kano was a baby and their father a few years later. Kano is very distinguishable because of the yellow bandanna tied on her wrist. A stray dog named Potato follows her around often and is almost a pet to her. When Kano was younger, Hijiri brought her to a festival and they wandered into a shrine. When they entered the shrine, Kano's attention was caught by a white feather and she reached for it, and with Hijiri's help, she took the feather.

裏葉

Uraha was Kannabi-no-Mikoto's tutor and at the same time, raises her. She stays with her at the shrine until she decided to take her away to safety and to her mother. After they met Kanna's mother, she stayed with Kanna until the latter disappeared because of a curse put into her. Later she was taught sorcery by the monks who cared for the winged race. She told Ryūya that the only way to save Kanna from her curse was to bear a child. She is an ancestor of Yukito Kunisaki, and she created the puppet he uses to get money. It is most likely that she died of old age.

霧島聖

Hijiri Kirishima is Kano Kirishima's older sister. She is a doctor. She became a doctor like her parents because she thought that she could cure Kano's illness. She first saw Yukito doing puppet shows in front of her clinic and let him do puppet shows in front of her clinic as long as he works in her clinic.

そら

Sora or Sky is a wild crow Misuzu Kamio befriended a pet before she met Yukito Kunisaki on the same day. Sora mostly appeared as a minor character throughout most of the series while making important appearances, such as discovering Yukito's missing puppet or pulling Misuzu's toy dinosaur to the shrine. Sora's true nature is revealed at the very end of the series, that he is the reincarnation of Yukito Kunisaki.
