Aslan Jade Callenreese, (アスラン・ジェイド・カーレンリース, Asuran Jeido Kārenrīsu), better known as Ash Lynx, is the protagonist of Banana Fish. Throughout the majority of the series, Ash is the leader of a New York gang and the unwilling heir to the Corsican mafia.

奥村英二

Eiji Okumura (奥村 英二, Okumura Eiji) is the deuteragonist of the Banana Fish series. Arriving in New York, he gets caught up in ongoing events and helps Ash Lynx as he uncovers the mystery surrounding Banana Fish, refusing to head back to the safety of his home country of Japan.

Skip is African American and has black afro-textured hair and brown eyes. He wears a violet-colored T-shirt striped with light blue and white underneath dungarees. He owns a pale blue coat with a white trimmed collar, and white trimmings on the ends of the sleeves and the bottom of the coat.

ケイン・ブラッド

Cain is a black African American man, seemingly an older teen or young adult. He has dark, short curly hair that is shaved around the sides, and he has tattoos on his right arm and the right side of his chest, but these tattoos are often not visible. He wears a ripped jean shirt with no sleeves and a popped collar, along with gold stud earrings and black sunglasses.

ディノ・フランシス・ゴルツィネ

Considered the main villain of the story, Dino Francis Golzine—typically shortened to Dino Golzine—is a major mafia boss in New York City, and the adoptive guardian of Ash Lynx. He is a central figure in the Banana Fish plot.

George Scott is a character in Banana Fish. He acts as Ash Lynx's lawyer to set Ash free from jail through his connection with Max Lobo.

アレクシス・ドースン

He was bald at the top of his head but had long light brown hair round the sides. He had the same colored eyebrows and moustache. He wore a pair of thin circle framed glasses.

エドアル ・L・フォックス

Eduardo L. Foxx (エドアルド・L・フォックス, Edoarudo L. Fokkusu) formally referred to as Colonel Foxx, is the leader of a mercenary group and former regimental leader of the French Foreign Legion, hired by Dino Golzine to capture Ash. He and his group are considered officially dead, working underground avoiding international laws. Eduardo is the final antagonist of Banana Fish.
