Crayon Shinchan

野原しんのすけ

Shinnosuke Nohara (野原しんのすけ), also known as Shin-chan [しんちゃん] or just Shin, is the titular main protagonist of Crayon Shin-chan. He is the son of Hiroshi and Misae. His nickname is "Shin-chan" and he is Himawari's older brother. A kindergarten-aged boy whose antics are the basis for the series.

野原広志

Hiroshi Nohara (野原ひろし), Harry Nohara in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs, is the father of the Nohara family, and its sole source of income as he works at as kakarichô (a low-level manager) at Futaba Shoji where he does overtime to earn a little more money and because of the 32-year mortgage he still has to pay. Quite surprisingly he still manages to have time to spend with his family. Hiroshi met Misae Koyama when he was 29 and married her soon after. Soon, they had Shinnosuke. He is 35 years old.

野原美冴

Misae Nohara (野原 - みさえ), Mitsy Nohara in the Vitello, Phuuz, Funimation and Dutch dubs, is the mother of the Nohara family, and its caretaker. She is 29 years old but she always tells people that she is 24 or 25. She is the classical housewife (専業主婦 Sengyō shufu) of post-war Japan - she cleans, launders, cooks, sews, mothers and lazes all to varying degrees of success. Her maiden name is Misae Koyama (小山 - みさえ).

野原ひまわり

Himawari Nohara (野原ひまわり), Daisy Nohara in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs, is the youngest child of the Nohara family, born on September 27 of 1996 (the date of the special episode in which she was born). She is a precocious and vibrant infant. While technically newborn, her character has matured and grown more intelligent during her stay in the series. She can't talk. Just like her brother, she smiles sideways.

桜田ネネ

Nene Sakurada (桜田-ネネ), also known as Penny in the Funimation dub and Nini in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs, is one of Shin-chan's classmates and friends from the sunflower class. She is five years old.

佐藤マサオ

Masao Sato (マサオ) (5 years old), Max in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs and shortened to Maso in the Funimation dub, is one of Shin-chan's friends and classmates from the sunflower class. Sometimes he is called 'Masao-kun'. He is a weak, sensitive boy and is scared of many things. He can be easily embarrassed, but believes his and Ai's love can conquer anything. He has been in love with Megumi Yamura.

高倉文太

Bunta Takakura (高倉文太), Principal Enzo in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs, and Principal Bernoulli Ench in the Funimation dub, is the 48 years old principal of Futaba Kindergarten, he's often referred to as "Enchō" (園長), which means "Kindergarten/Nursery School Principal." He has an punch perm hairstyle. His Yakuza-like appearance is often misunderstood by the people in the neighborhood and even within the students of the kindergarten in some occasions, which often acts as a recurring joke in the series (often worsened by Shin-chan by calling him "Kumichō" (組長 Godfather / Gang boss). He actually has a tender heart and good attitude. Takakura-san is shown to like women's wrestling in episode 131-B. His wife is Mrs. Takakura.

カンタムロボ

Kantam Robo (カンタム・ロボ), Psycho Robotico in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs, is a "giant robot" show that Shin-chan watches almost as regularly as Action Mask.

上尾ますみ

Masumi Ageo (上尾ますみ), Miss Agnes in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs, and Ms. Polly in the English Funimation dub, is a relatively new 23 year old teacher who handles the Tulip class. She seems to be nervous of everything and experiences panic attacks when facing a large group of kids (which is an everyday scenario of a kindergarten teacher). However, when Shin-chan takes off her glasses, her vision becomes blurred and a personality change takes place; she becomes very aggressive and fearless as shown in her first appearance in episode 281b "The New Teacher Acts Weird" (新しい先生は変わってるゾ). Her condition is somewhat similar to Launch from the Dragon Ball series.
