Dragon Quest: The Mark of Erdrick

Jagan was known as Alan, the Prince of the Laurent Kingdom, before he was taken by Ryūō and given the cursed name "Jagan", the 4th Demon King and the leader of the Demon Corps. Due to his cursed state, he becomes paranoid and aggressive, perhaps brutal, but the blood of Roto in him helped contain his humanity.

The Dragonlord has two equally-distinctive appearances in-game; the former as a blue-skinned robed sorcerer that looks relatively human, and his true form, a massive, purple-scaled dragon far larger than any other. Because he appeared in the first game, his appearance in both forms is iconic, to the point which both versions are often appeared or referenced both in Dragon Quest and out of it; from the Dragovian Lord assuming the pose of his dragon form during attacks to various parody works and fanworks. In the HD-2D Remake, both of his forms are much larger than the regular humans in the game.

A Sage who once fought alongside Erdrick against Zoma, he looks for a person who could be his successor while training for the return of evil as prophesied by Zoma's last words. Quadal is able to keep himself young via the Sands of time spell.

As a Holy Warrior, Yao is proficient in Chinese military arts which she uses to protect herself and her friends. She also finds use in them while travelling the world as a street performer, as she sometimes makes enemies along the way.

Kira grew up as best friends with Arus after Arus fled from the monsters that invaded the Kingdom of Carmen. Not much is known about what Kira did before meeting Arus, apart from that he had a close relationship with his older brother.

Lunafrea is the daughter of Leader Borugoi, one of the Carmen Knights, giving her an important status and early connection to Arus. She has a bold and rash personality, often convincing her that she can win any fight she gets in.
