Hanamaru Kindergarten

柊

Hiiragi (柊 Hiiragi), or Hii-chan to her friends, is a girl in Naozumi Tsuchida's class who became friends with Anzu and Koume during the start of the semester.

杏

Anzu is a tiny girl with a large head and stubby arms and legs that often hold her back. Her hair falls down at chin-length and is blond in the front, while the back is brown — the former granted from her mother and the latter from her father. She also has a wild strand that sticks up, much like her mother's.

小梅

Koume (小梅, Koume) is a very shy and sensitive girl in Tsuchida's class. She quickly became friends with Anzu and Hiiragi upon the start of the semester. She has an older brother who gave her a red ribbon which she holds very dear to her heart.

土田直純

Naozumi Tsuchida (土田 直純 Tsuchida Naozumi) is the secondary protagonist of the series, and the only male teacher at Hanamaru Kindergarten, who started teaching in the school immediately after he graduated. At first, he is seen as unreliable, but as time passes, he gets the hang of being a teacher. He was also the one to suggest Anzu's name to her mother.

土田さつき

Satsuki Tsuchida (土田 皐 Tsuchida Satsuki) is the younger sister of Naozumi Tsuchida who visits the kindergarten to see how he has been doing since he left home. She seems to care very much for her brother's well-being and apparently has a brother complex. She is often very eager to receive any sort of acknowledgment from Tsuchida and has a tendency to get jealous whenever Tsuchida gets close to Nanako Yamamoto.
