Sora is a young energetic boy looking forward to exploring the world with his friends, Riku and Kairi. The threesome is working hard on completing a raft that will allow them to leave their island but one day a mysterious force causes Sora to gain a special weapon known as the Keyblade. He fights some weird monsters and gets transported to a strange town. Meanwhile, Donald and Goofy leave their castle to search for the king and the chosen one who holds the "key" to saving the world. Sora is attacked again by creatures known as Heartless but is helped out by an old man named Cid and a warrior named Leon. He eventually meets up with Donald and Goofy and they join forces to go search for his friends and the King.

MAINSora is the main protagonist and main playable character in most of the Kingdom Hearts series. He is a Keyblade wielder from the Destiny Islands where he, along with his childhood friends Riku and Kairi, dreamed of venturing away to find out what lies beyond their home. Sora's primary partners are Donald and Goofy and have been on a journey to search for King Mickey throughout the franchise of Kingdom Hearts games.
リク
MAINRiku is a life-long friend and rival of Sora, and he plays a key role in the Kingdom Hearts Series. Riku is from Destiny Islands and is a childhood friend of Sora and Kairi. Later in the series, he becomes a Keyblade master that has the power of light and darkness, and is always ready to sacrifice himself to protect his friends. Riku is the original persona of his own replica.

SUPPORTINGGoofy appears alongside Donald and Sora in all of the Kingdom Hearts series. Goofy is Captain of the Royal Knights of King Mickey's court. He and Disney Castle's Court Magician Donald went out to search for the King, and ends up teaming with Sora for the rest of their journey.
アリエル
SUPPORTINGAriel is the rebellious and strong-willed princess in the underwater kingdom of Atlantica. She appears as an ally, party member, and a summon/link throughout the Kingdom Hearts series. She is the youngest daughter of King Triton and his late wife Queen Athena and one of seven sisters. Ariel previously lived at the palace in Atlantica, but, as of Kingdom Hearts II, she has become human and married Prince Eric.
アウロラ
SUPPORTINGAurora, a.k.a. Briar Rose, is the playful and imaginative princess of Enchanted Dominion, and was a Princess of Heart. After she did her job opening the Final Keyhole, Aurora passed on her light to hide it for one of the potential New Seven Hearts. She appears as an ally in Kingdom Hearts Union χ, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts.
