Rurouni Kenshin: Restoration

緋村剣心

Himura Kenshin (緋 (ひ) 村 (むら) 剣 (けん) 心 (しん) ), birth name Himura Shinta (緋 (ひ) 村 (むら) 心 (しん) 太 (た) ), is the main protagonist and titular character of the Rurouni Kenshin series. He is known as the legendary hitokiri of the Meiji Revolution, Hitokiri Battōsai (人 (ひと) 斬 (き) 抜 (ばっ) 刀 (とう) 斎 (さい) ), more properly named Himura Battōsai (緋 (ひ) 村 (むら) 抜 (ばっ) 刀 (とう) 斎 (さい) ). Kenshin has spent ten years traveling Japan as a rurōni in search of redemption, carrying a sakabatō with the vow to never kill again following his service in the Bakumatsu as an assassin for the Imperialist cause. In 1878, he arrives in Tokyo and takes up residence at the Kamiya Dōjō, where his vow is tested as he fights to keep the country's peace.

Gein's attire consists of a black suit with a skeleton pattern. Beneath the mask, he appears to be a feeble old man, but is quite strong and capable in combat.

In the Bakumatsu Jin-e wore a standard Shinsengumi outfit and had wavy brown hair in a ponytail. When he appears in the Tokyo Arc his hair had become grey and he had cut the ponytail off. His outfit changes to a black bodysuit that covers all his body except his face and hair, over which he wears a tan kimono with a brown belt and a long red scarf. He also wears Black boots and a straw hat.

Inui Banjin is a camouflage-wearing, hand-to-hand fighter who mirrors Sanosuke in intelligence (lacking-in). He is the student of Tatsumi, the leader of the ninja group that tried to kill Hitokiri Battōsai. As Tatsumi was killed by Battōsai, Inui claims to join Enishi's Jinchū campaign for that reason, but he is actually using his master's death as an excuse to fight and prove how powerful he is. In reality, he cares nothing for his master whom he thinks of as a mere loser.
