Wangan Midnight

When high school student Akio Asakura loses a high speed race to a Porsche 911 Turbo known as "Blackbird," he goes to a junkyard to find parts for his car - only to discover a blue first-generation Datsun Fairlady Z (S30), which he buys. Akio later discovers that not only is the Z tuned to 620 bhp, it's had a dark history of unfortunate accidents with its previous owners. Making matters more complicated is the fact that the last owner shared the same name with Akio. With the "Devil Z," Akio forms a new rivalry with the Blackbird and its driver Tatsuya Shima.

MAINTatsuya Shima (島 達也, Shima Tatsuya) is the secondary main character and the current King/Emperor of Wangan in Wangan Midnight. He drives a car known as the Blackbird, a modified Porsche 911 (originally a "930", but would later be changed to a "964"). Shima is Akio's rival and a respected surgeon, hence why he rarely appears with Akio.

SUPPORTINGJun Kitami also known as the "Tuner from Hell" (Japanese: 地獄のチューナー Romaji: Jigoku no Chūnā), is a tuner in Wangan Midnight. Jun Kitami, He is the one that originally tuned the Devil Z and later BlackBird as well. He laughs in the face of danger and will gladly take anything past the "safe" 600BHP mark. Unfortunately, the cars he tunes are so powerful that they are extremely difficult to control (if the car does not result totally undriveable), someone even died when driving the car tuned by him. Hence his reputation as the "Devil's Tuner."
