YAIBA
Upon enrolling in school, Yaiba quickly crosses swords with his soon-to-be rival, Onimaru. When Onimaru is transformed into a demon by the cursed power of Fujinken, the Wind God’s Sword, Yaiba embarks on a quest to Mount Tengu to find his own enchanted sword. But Yaiba lacks the skill and knowledge to use such a powerful weapon. If he can’t control himself, it will control him!

MAINSayaka Mine (峰さやか Mine Sayaka) is the daughter of Raizo Mine and the main female character of the series, being Yaiba's friend and love interest. During the Kaguya Arc is revealed that she's also the descendant of the Dragon God Priestess.
カゲトラ
MAINKagetora (カゲトラ) is Yaiba's tiger companiong. He helps Yaiba with his training and lets Yaiba ride him when speed is needed. He is also shown a much higher intelligence than Yaiba when it comes to rock-scissors-paper. He was probably found on the same mountain where Yaiba and his father lived.

鬼丸猛
SUPPORTINGTakeshi Onimaru (鬼丸猛 Onimaru Takeshi) is the main antagonist of the series and Yaiba's main rival. After mastering the Fuujin Sword he turned into a Oni because of Fuujin's possession, and was eventually freed by his influence at the end of the Yamata no Orochi arc.
庄之助
SUPPORTINGShonosuke (庄之助, Shōnosuke) is Yaiba's vulture companion. He helps Yaiba with his training and lets Yaiba ride him when he needs to fly. Like Kagetora, he occasionally ups Yaiba. He was probably found on the same mountain Yaiba and his father lived.
