One of the Ribika, Konoe, lives in a small village called Karou. One morning, he wakes up to find that his ears and tail have turned black. There is also a symbol on his body; the mark of the curse. Konoe embarks on a journey through the forest to find the truth.

MAINRai (ライ) is one of the main characters of Lamento. He's a silver-haired cat from the village of Setsura and wears an eyepatch. He's a skilled bounty hunter who wields a swords and a knife. He has a cold attitude. His catchphrase of sorts is calling everyone "baka neko" (stupid cat).
コノエ
MAINKonoe is a young and small cat, and of relatively short stature, something remarked upon often by the rest of the characters—devils and cats alike. Konoe has medium-length, light blonde hair with green (occasionally red) undertones and brownish-orange eyes. Though he would generally be considered average height in reality, he is petite in comparison to the larger cat breeds seen throughout the story and is mocked for it.
