Nagi no Asu Kara

比良平ちさき

Chisaki Hiradaira (比良平 ちさき, Hiradaira Chisaki) is a main female protagonist in the series, along with Manaka Mukaido. She is one the students at Shioshishio and the childhood friends of Manaka Mukaido, Hikari Sakishima and Kaname Isaki.

Miuna Shiodome (潮留 美海, Shiodome Miuna) is the 3rd grade elementary school daughter of Itaru Shiodome and Miori Shiodome.

向井戸まなか

Manaka Mukaido (向井戸 まなか, Mukaido Manaka) is the main female protagonist of Nagi-Asu: A Lull in the Sea, along with Chisaki Hiradaira. She is the childhood best friend of Hikari Sakishima, Chisaki Hiradaira and Kaname Isaki.

木原紡

A boy from the surface and the grandson of Isamu Kihara (a fisherman). One day, he meets Manaka Mukaido when she is caught in his net. He is quiet, stoic, and very interested in the underwater world. His grandfather was from the sea. Tsumugu has a complicated relationship with his mother. After the time skip, he attends college and majors in oceanography. He lives in the city and conducts research about the sea villages at his university. He becomes close to Chisaki Hiradaira and he eventually falls in love with her. After accidentally claiming his love for Chisaki, he follows her into the sea and gains Ena. It is later revealed that he had known of Manaka's feelings for Hikari Sakishima since the eve of the Ofunehiki five years previously, but agreed to keep it a secret at Manaka's request. After having a talk with Kaname about Chisaki's true feelings, Chisaki finally accepts her love for Tsumugu and they become a couple. He is last seen walking to the train station with Chisaki as he leaves for college. He is not very good at expressing himself and others therefore consider him emo. He constantly got bullied as a kid because of his fishing addiction and therefore only shares his interests with those he is close too.

先島光

Hikari Sakishima (先 (さき) 島 (しま) 光 (ひかり) , Sakishima Hikari) is the main protagonist of Nagi-Asu: A Lull in the Sea. He is one of four childhood friends from Shioshishio and the childhood friend of Manaka Mukaido who looks after her and has developed feelings for. Hikari is the son of Shioshishio's Chief Priest who serves the Sea King. By tradition, this makes him the future Chief Priest. At first, he hates all people from the surface but after learning about the relationships between the land and sea humans (through Akari and Itaru), he gradually understands that there is no difference between the people from the surface and the sea. He goes into hibernation shortly after saving Akari during the Ofunehiki festival.

伊佐木要

Kaname Isaki (伊 (い) 佐 (さ) 木 (き) 要 (かなめ) , Isaki Kaname) is one of the leading characters of the series. He is childhood friends with Hikari Sakishima, Chisaki Hiradaira and Manaka Mukaido.

久沼さゆ

Sayu Hisamuna (久沼 さゆ, Hisanuma Sayu) is a third grade elementary school student and Miuna Shiodome's best friend who has crush on Kaname Isaki. After the time skip, she enters middle school with Miuna and decides to study hard to become an independent woman, but her crush on Kaname also grows stronger and she tries her best to overcome it. However, Kaname was the only reason that she was moving on. She eventually makes Kaname see her as a girl his age, instead of the little girl he knew before going into hibernation. In the epilogue, she is seen with her hair down in order to look more mature, likely as an attempt to impress Kaname.
