尾崎敏夫

Toshio Ozaki is one of the three main protagonists of Shiki. He is the head doctor of the Ozaki Clinic in Sotoba. He is a childhood friend of Seishin Muroi, the junior monk. At first, the two of them worked together on investigating the outbreak of bizarre deaths and discovered that a race of Shiki are ones behind events. After experimenting and killing his own wife Kyoko as a Shiki, Toshio informed Seishin that he will hunt down the Shiki to prevent the expansion, which shattered their friendship. When the Shiki were exposed to the entire village, Toshio and the people almost killed all the Shiki and did their best, before Sotoba went in flames by Motoko Maeda.

桐敷沙子

Sunako is a young, playful girl. She enjoys reading books and mentions that she enjoyed reading Seishin's work while cooped up indoors. Despite her appearance, she displays knowledge that a child her age would not possess and exhibits some levels of religious affiliation, especially on death.

結城夏野

Natsuno Yuuki (or Natsuno Koide) is one of the three main protagonists of Shiki. Originally a city dweller, he reluctantly moved to Sotoba with his parents. Although he hates life in the village, Natsuno decides to stop the Kirishikis' plans of a "shiki town" after he becomes one himself (he becomes a Jinrou, a subspecies of a shiki).

室井静信

Seishin Muroi is one of the three main protagonists of Shiki. He was the junior monk of the temple in Sotoba along with secretly writing novels and essays. He is a childhood friend of Toshio Ozaki, the local doctor. At first, the two of them worked together on investigating the outbreak of bizarre deaths and discovered that a race of Shiki are ones behind events. But when Seishin saw that Toshio killed his own wife, Kyouko, after experimenting on her to find the weaknesses of Shiki, their friendship was shattered. He is now currently a Jinrou traveling with Sunako Kirishiki as the replacement of Tatsumi.

田中昭

Akira Tanaka is Kaori Tanaka's younger brother and he is in 7th grade, and is also a childhood friend of Megumi Shimizu. He is among the youngest characters in the series, and one of the first villagers to discover the existence of shiki, alongside Natsuno Koide.

前田 元子

Motoko Maeda (前田 元子 Maeda Motoko), also known as Moto-chan, is a protagonist of episode 21.5 and a major pivotal character overall as she is the one who sealed Sotoba's fate in the end and started the fire that destroyed it. She was a young housewife from Lower Sotoba and worked in Chigusa. She was Kanami's childhood friend, Isami's wife, Iwao's and Tomiko's daughter-in-law and Shigeki's and Shihori's mother. She was also responsible for burning Sotoba out of insanity.

倉橋佳枝

Yoshie is one of the two Jinrou in service of the Kirishiki Family though more specially Sunako before Seishin's transformation into a Jinrou.

橋口やすよ

Yasuyo Hashiguchi is one of the nurses from Toshio Ozaki's clinic. She was one of the first few people in Sotoba to know of the spreading epidemic. She is the oldest among the nurses and is considered to be Ritsuko Kunihiro's best friend. She was very concerned about Toshio's increasing stress and behavior about handling the epidemic. Later, she becomes instrumental in the war of the Shiki and the humans.

広沢高俊

He played pachinko, collapsed, and died August 11. He later rose as a shiki. When Natsuno, Kaori and Akira were digging up Megumi's grave, he grabbed Kaori from behind and tried to bite her. Natsuno hits him with his shovel then they bury him shallowly in Megumi's grave. He regains consciousness and leaves. When the war between the humans and the risen broke out, Takatoshi hid in the pipelines along with other vampires such as Ebuchi and Nao Yasumori, but was eventually dragged out and killed by Hasegawa.

大川篤

He is a tall muscular man with Sausage lips, short black hair, and large, black eyebrows. He wore a black sleeveless tank top, jeans and sandals.
