Shirakawa Ro has to move to a relative’s town in the country side with his twin sister Haruna when their mother suddenly dies in a car accident. Left as orphans at the age of 15, the two have to deal not only with their only parent but an entire new environment. Ro was supposed to succeed his mom’s dream of winning a medal in the Olympics but with her dying the day before the big event, Ro breaks down and misses his only chance to reach his dream. Now stuck in the small town of Tomakomai, Ro finds a new passion in ice hockey and regains his focus in life.

MAINRou Shirakawa (白川 朗 Shirakawa Rō) is the main protagonist of Dogsred. He is a first year student at Oinokami High, where he plays as a winger on its Ice Hockey Team. He is a former figure skating champion who now wishes to reach the Olympics as an ice hockey player. He is the twin brother of Haruna Shirakawa with whom he lives at their grandfather's home in Tomakomai.

SUPPORTINGKeiichi Genma (源間 慶一 Genma Keiichi) is the deuteragonist of Dogsred. He is a first year student at Oinokami High, where he plays as a center on its Ice Hockey Team. He was the captain of the Hokuryou Junior High Ice Hockey Team. He is the younger brother of Koichi Genma.
