Sword Art Online: Project Alicization

Kirito was chosen to be one of the one thousand beta testers for the closed beta of Sword Art Online, the first ever Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) for the NerveGear, and later joined the official version of the game. He thus became one of the 10,000 players who were trapped in Sword Art Online, where he remained a solo player for the majority of the game, willingly taking on the role of a Beater to reduce discrimination against other former beta testers, as well as actively taking part in Boss battles as one of the Clearers. Kirito temporarily became a member of the Moonlit Black Cats after helping them safely escape a dangerous dungeon, but returned to being a solo player when a fatal error resulted in the death of the other guild members. At some point in the game, Kirito became known as the «Black Swordsman» (黒の剣士, Kuro no Kenshi) due to his tendency to wear black clothing. Near the end of the game, Kirito joined the Knights of the Blood due to losing a wager with its leader, Heathcliff. Kirito eventually put an end to the game by defeating the final boss, thus clearing the game.

アリス・ツーベルク

Having lost her will to fight following Supreme Priest Quinella's and Chief Elder Chudelkin's death and Kirito entering a comatose state in the aftermath of the battle, Alice returned to Rulid Village with Kirito to avoid possible retribution on the boy's life, reuniting with her sister Selka Zuberg there. Following a goblin attack on the village, during which Alice regained her desire to protect their world, Alice travelled to the Great Eastern Gate to join the Human Guardian Army in order to defend the Human Empire against an invasion by the Dark Territory Army.

One year later, Eugeo and his partner Kirito successfully enrolled at the Sword Mastery Academy as one of the top twelve students of the year, thus becoming a valet to Elite Disciple Golgorosso Balto. As the fifth best student at the end of the first academy year, Eugeo became one of the twelve Elite Disciples the following year, being assigned Tiese Schtrinen as his valet. However, when his valet Tiese and her friend Ronye Arabel were provoked by high-ranked nobles Raios Antinous and Humbert Zizek into insulting them, Eugeo overwhelmed his Seal of the Right Eye and broke the Taboo Index by slashing Humbert in an effort to save the girls from being sexually abused by the high-ranked nobles, leading to Kirito also breaking the Taboo Index by attacking Raios to save Eugeo from retribution.

結城明日奈

After Sword Art Online was cleared, Asuna transferred her SAO avatar to ALfheim Online and began playing the game as an Undine. Due to her tendency to charge into battle with a rapier despite being a healer, she has earned the nickname «Berserk Healer» (バーサクヒーラー, Bāsaku Hīrā). Asuna has also created an alternative avatar, the Sylph «Erika» (エリカ, Erika), as she sometimes wanted to change her appearance.

クィネラ

Quinella was an extremely beautiful woman with long silver hair, eyelashes and eyebrows, which may appear blue or white depending on the surrounding lighting. Her eyes were silver in color, seemingly reflecting the seven prismatic colors. She was voluptuous and donned light clothes, which were hemmed with «Stacia Window»-silver threads, and had an unreservedly open neckline.

カーディナル

The «Cardinal System» (カーディナル・システム, Kādinaru Shisutemu), occasionally referred to simply as Cardinal, serves as the primary driving and management force of nearly all Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online (VRMMO) games in the Sword Art Online Universe. The system was originally developed by Kayaba Akihiko to manage all resources, processes, and events within Sword Art Online (SAO). A downsized version of the Cardinal System was included in The Seed to facilitate the easy management of new virtual worlds.

比嘉タケル

Takeru has whitened hair that stands up like a hill of swords. He wears a T-shirt that is faded in colour, three-quarter length jeans and sneakers with damaged soles. He also wears round, rimmed spectacles.
