Takagi (高木, Takagi) is the female protagonist in the Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san. She is a middle school student who constantly teases her seatmate Nishikata.

Nishikata (西片, Nishikata) is the male protagonist in the Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san. He is a middle school student who constantly gets teased by his seatmate Takagi.

日比野ミナ

Mina has long brown hair, which she usually keeps tied back into a ponytail, and very short bangs. Most notably, she has thick eyebrows and large brown eyes. She is noticeably shorter than most of her classmates, making her appear much younger than she actually is.

北条

Houjou (北条, Hōjō) is a female side character in the series Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san. She is currently a second-year student at Tonoshō Municipal Tonoshō Junior High School, attending the same class with other characters such as Nishikata and Takagi. Her classmates have described her as "the prettiest girl in school", which has led her to adopt a more mature personality. She is also well known for her interest in guys who are mature, but despite this, Hamaguchi remains her primary love interest.

天川ユカリ

Yukari Tenkawa (天川 ユカリ, Tenkawa Yukari) is one of Takagi's and Nishikata's classmates as well as a good friend of Sanae and Mina.

木村

Kimura (木村, Kimura) is a student in the same class as Nishikata and Takagi. He is a close friend of Nishikata and they hang out with each other both inside and outside of school.

真野

Mano is a girl of average build and appearance, though she is noticeably shorter than the majority of her classmates. She has short black hair, which she often keeps tied back into small pigtails, and bangs that rest neatly above her eyes. She also has a light complexion and greyish eyes. For the majority of her appearances, she is seen wearing her school uniform.

中井

Nakai is noticeably taller than most of his classmates, easily distinguishing him from others. He has short brown hair, and black eyes that appear to always be closed. It is revealed that Nakai has poor vision because of this.

浜口

Hamaguchi (浜口, Hamaguchi) is one of Nishikata's friends from Tonoshō Municipal Tonoshō Junior High School. He can also be seen spending time with his other friends Takao and Kimura, and his love interest Houjou.

鷹川すみれ

Sumire Takagawa (鷹川 すみれ, Takagawa Sumire) is one of the classmates of Takagi (whom she is a close friend of) and Nishikata.
