MAINCoco (ココ, Koko) is the protagonist of Witch Hat Atelier. She is a young girl who becomes an apprentice witch under the witch Qifrey's tutelage, following her initial accidental use of forbidden magic which had turned her mother to crystal. She hopes to search the Tower of Tomes for the book containing the magic that she had cast in order to reverse its effects on her mother.

MAINRicheh has a seemingly emotionless and childish personality, being very stubborn, individualistic, and resentful of authority figures that tell her what to do. She often refers to herself in the third person, another facet of her childlike personality. SUPPORTINGJujy is a young girl around the age, if not a little older than the girls in Qifrey's Atelier. She has dark skin, light grey eyes, and curly black hair done up in puffy, segmented pigtails. Her witch cap is a dark shade of blue with three white tassels on the side, with golden highlights on the bottom rim and at the point. She also wears a sandy white cloak with golden buttons and orange tassels under which she has dark slightly baggy clothes held up with a white piece of cloth around her waist.

SUPPORTINGUtowin (ウトウィン, Utowin) is a member of the "Knights Moralis" who works directly under Easthies. He is responsible for teaching spearmanship to the other members of his order.

SUPPORTINGThe more dominant and joyful half of the two twins, tends to drag its twin Etlan. Ekoh is the most turbulent of the twins, attacking Easthies on sight for no reason in particular other than to "let loose", only to be yelled at by Etlan for his rash behaviour. Etlan, supports him. Ekoh cannot be controlled without Etlan, and Etlan does nothing spontaneously without Ekoh, so they are always treated as a duo.
