マケン姫っ！
Takeru Ooyama, a young normal yet perverted minded guy, got accepted and now goes to a school that, unknown to him, was where combat and magic is used. On the first day, he meets again after three years: Haruko Amaya, his childhood friend, Inaho Kushiya, a girl who says she's his fiance, and Kodama Himegami, a blonde who wants to kill him. Finding out that there are many girls there that just don't like him, he is told that everyone there uses a special magic ability while using an item or weapon called a Maken. Later, he finds that no Maken is acceptable for him and doesn't know what to do, since in this school the students get into duels that showcase their magic and combat power, to which he seemingly has none.

- Chapter 39 is divided into two parts.

MAINHaruko Amaya (天谷 春恋, Amaya Haruko) is one of the main female protagonists of the Maken-Ki! series. She is the vice-president of the Student Council Security Division, a sophomore student at Tenbi Academy and the childhood friend of Takeru Ooyama who has been in love with him ever since they were children. She shares a dorm with him, along with Kodama Himegami and Inaho Kushiya (who claims to be Takeru's fiancé), and that creates a fierce rivalry between them for Takeru's affections.

MAINKodama Himegami (姫神 コダマ, Himegami Kodama), more commonly referred to as Himegami, is one of the main characters of the Maken-ki! series. She is a 2 year student at Tenbi Academy in Class 2-1 and serves as a member of the security committee in Makenki.

MAINInaho Kushiya (櫛八 イナホ, Kushiya Inaho) is one of two tritagonists of the Maken-Ki! series (the other being Kodama Himegami). She is a member of the Student Council Security Division and a freshman student at Tenbi Academy. She is the adopted daughter of Tesshin Kushiya, having been raised by him but she was then taken in by Takeshi Ooyama and Atsuma Ooyama later on. Inaho has been a longtime friend of Takeru Ooyama and his self-proclaimed fiancée, competing against Haruko Amaya, who also holds romantic feelings for Takeru.

MAINTakeru Ooyama (大山 タケル Ooyama Takeru) is the central protagonist of the Maken-Ki! series. He is a member of the Student Council Security Division and a freshman student at Tenbi Academy. He is the child of Takeshi Ooyama and Atsuma Ooyama, the descendant of Oousu no Mikoto and Yabiko Ooyama and a very distant relative of Kodama Himegami.
