ララ・サタリン・デビルーク

Lala Satalin Deviluke (ララ･サタリン・デビルーク, Rara Satarin Debirūku) is the main female protagonist of To-Love Ru Series, but takes a more minor role in To-Love-Ru Darkness. The story begins with Lala running away from home as she didn't want to get married to any of her suitors. Due to an accident, she ends up naked in Yuuki Rito's bathtub. Upon arriving on Earth, Lala pretends to love Rito to keep herself from getting married, but really fell in love with him after she misinterprets a statement that Rito shouts in self-defiance.

西連寺春菜

Haruna Sairenji (西連寺 春菜, Sairenji Haruna) is the second female protagonist of To Love Ru. She is in Rito's class and is the girl of his affections. Haruna has similar feelings for him, having been attracted to him because of his kind, gentle nature since junior high, but believes them to be unrequited and has not built up the nerve to confess to him. Despite her growing love for Rito, her friendship with Lala causes her to suppress her feelings since she doesn't want to hurt Lala who also loves Rito. However, with some encouragement, she eventually tells Lala of her feelings for Rito which Lala accepts, stating that Haruna is her rival for Rito's heart, while still remaining friends.

結城リト

Yūki Rito is the main male protagonist of the To Love-Ru series, and its sequel, To Love-Ru Darkness. He is a normal 16-year-old student of Sainan High, who has a big crush on Sairenji Haruna, to whom he attempted numerous times to confess to but has met failure each time. It was only by accident that he met Lala Satalin Deviluke, an alien princess he accidentally became engaged to.

金色の闇

Konjiki no Yami (金色の闇, Golden Darkness), real name Eve, and mostly referred to by other characters as Yami, is a major character in To LOVE-Ru and To LOVE-Ru Darkness. She is a lonely assassin who is initially hired by Lacospo, one of Lala's arranged suitors, to kill Yuuki Rito. But when Lacospo effectively annuls the job, she decides to take her time and, under the pretense of still needing to complete her mission to kill Rito, stays on Earth. As she spends more time on Earth, she builds a very strong relationship with Rito's mature younger sister, Yuuki Mikan and to Rito himself, whom she also develops feelings for.

ルン・エルシ・ジュエリア

Run Elsie Jewelria is a childhood friend of Lala and the female form of Ren Elsie Jewelria. As Run and Ren are royalty from planet Memorze, they can change gender in mind and body upon triggering a specific stimulus; in their case, a sneeze. Ren hates Rito, especially after he accidentally kissed him, but Run fell in love with Rito because of that kiss, which caused Ren to further dislike Rito.

籾岡里紗

Risa Momioka is Haruna and Mio's best friend and Rito and Lala's classmate. She is very fun-loving, mischievous and perverted. She enjoys talking about naughty things, teasing Rito, and her favorite thing to do is groping the breasts of other girls and whisper naughty things into their ears to tease them. Risa is possibly bisexual, as there are explicit scenes showing her perverted actions towards both males and females, or lust towards woman's body.

天条院沙姫

Tenjōin Saki is the arrogant self-proclaimed queen bee of the school. She is currently in her third-year. Saki consistently tries to defeat Lala in everything, stating there can only be one "queen" in Sainan High. She even tries to seduce Rito to make Lala jealous (despite not loving him), but later, she falls in love with Zastin. She once teamed up with Run Elise Jewelria to make Lala look bad in front of Rito and to prove that Saki is the queen of all things.

藤崎綾

Fujisaki Aya is Tenjōin Saki's loyal and assisting friend. The bespectacled Aya is weak-willed and became associated with Saki after she and Kujō Rin protected her from bullies when they were children.

骨川

Honekawa is a teacher at Sainan High and a minor character in the series. He is the homeroom teacher for Class 2-A which is Rito's and most of the main cast classroom.

弄光泰三

Motemitsu has grey eyes and short spiky dark yellow hair, he is seemingly tall and good-looking. In To Love-Ru Darkness, his hair is now brighter, slightly longer and spikier.
