Mikoto Urabe (卜部美琴 Urabe Mikoto) is the bizarre heroine and the mysterious girlfriend of Akira Tsubaki in the anime and manga series. She is a new transfer student to Tsubaki's school, and he soon falls in love with her thanks, in part, to a series of dreams, as well as their 'Drool Bond'. Urabe seems to live mostly on her own in an apartment, although her parents, especially her dad, are gone almost all of the time.

椿明

Akira Tsubaki (椿 明 Tsubaki Akira) ( Voiced by: Miyu Irino) is the main protagonist and a boyfriend of the mysterious girlfriend herself, Mikoto Urabe. Tsubaki is an average boy by most standards. Although 17, he has never had a girlfriend, thus does not have the interpersonal skills that are necessary for a friendly or romantic relationship between a teenage boy and girl. He is a member of the Tsubaki family, and lives with his sister and his father. The three live together in the Tsubaki home, on the outskirts of Kazamidai. His mother passed away when he was very young, leaving his sister to raise him in her place.

椿陽子

Youko is Akira Tsubaki's elder sister. She is seven years older than him. After the demise of her mother, she has voluntarily taken over the role of that of a mother and caregiver to the family.

早川愛香

Aika Hayakawa (早川 愛香 Hayakawa Aika) is a pretty girl who was Akira's classmate and first crush in middle school (junior high school). She knew of his deep, intimate feelings for her, but never acknowledged those feelings of love, thus affecting an unrequited love shipping from Tsubaki to her. After middle school, she eventually attended a different high school, an all-girls business school, from the one Tsubaki attended.

Of the four teenagers that are friends of one another, Ueno is the tallest of them, being a little taller than Tsubaki. His body build is somewhat thin and muscular, however, he is not especially athletic. He is of average weight for a slender teenage male. Ueno has short chocolate brown hair, worn in a mop cut, and chocolate brown eyes. His skin tone is a slightly dark, tan shade, with an even blend. He has an angular face, with a mildly chiseled jawline. He is always seen wearing glasses.

Momoka Imai is a teenage media idol who looks almost identical to Urabe. She makes an appearance in Chapter 37, and it turns out that they have much more common than one would expect.

Matsuzawa is an attractive, short-haired schoolmate of Tsubaki who is one grade below him. They met through the school's film club. She likes him because they share unusual taste in movies, and they share time and projects together in the film club. Although Tsubaki in turn enjoys talking to her, and occasionally being with her alone, he worries that the attention she gives him will make Urabe jealous. In the manga, Matsuzawa gives Tsubaki chocolates on St. Valentine's Day to show him gratitude for his interest and friendship with her.
