七草ナズナ

Nazuna Nanakusa (七 (ナナ) 草 (クサ) ナズナ, Nanakusa Nazuna) is a carefree vampire from birth who was raised by Kabura Honda before attending a night school, where she met and befriended Kyouko Mejiro. By the time she chose to live a life by her own presence, Nazuna encountered Kou Yamori, a night roaming middle schooler in Komori, whose blood tasted astonishingly delicious. In an exchange for spending time with Kou every night and drinking his blood, Kou intended to fall in love with Nazuna to become a vampire himself, a topic that discomforted Nazuna.

夜守コウ

Kou Yamori (夜 (ヤ) 守 (モリ) コウ, Yamori Kō) is the main protagonist of Call of the Night. He is a middle school student who began skipping classes to venture around his home city Komori late at night. Since he first began roaming around, Kou befriended Nazuna Nanakusa, a vampire whom he intended to develop romantic feelings for in order to be able to be turned into a vampire by her. His close time with Nazuna caught the attention of a group of vampires, led by Nico Hirata, who confirmed that Kou would be assassinated if he were not to become a vampire within a year. However, Kou and Nazuna succeeded in befriending each of them within a couple of months. Throughout his insomnia nights, he had came across more friends he had ever had before, and eventually, Kou encountered Anko Uguisu, a detective who sought to eliminate all vampires.

朝井アキラ

Akira Asai (朝 (アサ) 井 (イ) アキラ, Asai Akira) is a middle school student and a childhood friend of Kou Yamori and Mahiru Seki. A dedicated follower of authority, Akira does everything expected from a good student despite her utter lack of enthusiasm. Recently, Akira started to develop insomnia due to her life feeling unsatisfying because of her lack of human connection, both at school and at home, and started waking up at 4 AM and going to school early. After her friend was rejected when she confessed to Kou as per Akira's suggestion, Kou began skipping school to roam around at night. Not long after the first time, Akira came across him and met Nazuna Nanakusa, a vampire.

蘿蔔ハツカ

Hatsuka Suzushiro (蘿 (スズ) 蔔 (シロ) ハツカ, Suzushiro Hatsuka) is a vampire who is in the same clique as Nico Hirata. Despite what the appearance suggests, Hatsuka is a man who just thinks women's clothes suit him. He supports Nazuna Nanakusa and Kou Yamori on their journey to turn Kou into a vampire by having him fall in love with Nazuna.

小繁縷ミドリ

Midori Kohakobe (小 (コ) 繁縷 (ハコベ) ミドリ, Kohakobe Midori) is a member of Nico Hirata's clique who also befriended Kou Yamori. She is a vampire and works in a maid café, where her popularity earned her the number one spot.

白河清澄

Kiyosumi Shirakawa (白 (シラ) 河 (カワ) 清 (キヨ) 澄 (スミ) , Shirakawa Kiyosumi) is a magazine publisher and was one of Nazuna Nanakusa's clients before Nazuna met Kou Yamori.

アザミ

Azami (アザミ, Azami) is an underling of Kiku Hoshimi who spent the next thirty-five years resolving any issues in human society caused by Hoshimi's other underlings. In an attempt to abduct Anko Uguisu, he was beaten by Kou Yamori and Nazuna Nanakusa, eventually choosing to become their ally. Partnered with Susuki, Azami aided Anko in chasing Kiku for the deaths of her parents and Kou in search for Mahiru Seki to reconcile.

越後リラ

Lira Echigo (越後 (エチゴ) リラ, Echigo Rira) is a student at the night school Nico Hirata teaches at, and falls in love at first sight with Kou Yamori, temporarily dating him.

ミチコ

Michiko (ミチコ, Michiko) is a middle school student and a friend of Sakura Asakura. After Sakura was rejected by Kou Yamori, Michiko and Saki Fujiwara verbally harassed him for it. A couple of months later, Kou returned to school and joined them on a trip to Hokkaido.
