竹井久

Hisa Takei (竹井 久, Takei Hisa), formerly known as Hisa Ueno (上野 久 Ueno Hisa), is a third year student at Kiyosumi High School and is the current president of the mahjong club, as well as president of the school's student congress.

宮永咲

Saki Miyanaga (宮永 咲, Miyanaga Saki) is the titular character of the story. She is a first-year student at Kiyosumi High School who is notorious for her ability to break even in every match, as she didn't want to win against her family. However, after joining the mahjong club, she uses her skill for the sake of winning and hopes to progress to the nationals to reunite with Teru Miyanaga. At first, she is distant towards Nodoka Haramura, but she becomes extremely close to her (to the point where they frequently hold hands and draw strength from each other) over time. She gets easily distracted and has a poor sense of direction, which causes her to get lost during excursions, particularly in tournaments. After her performance in Nagano prefectural and the eventual defeat of Koromo Amae, people begin considering her as one of the feared national-class monsters.

原村和

Nodoka Haramura (原村 和, Haramura Nodoka) is the daughter of Kei Haramura and Kaho Haramura and a first-year at Kiyosumi High School who was the previous year's National Middle School Individual Champion.

Yuuki Kataoka (片岡 優希, Kataoka Yūki) is a first year student at Kiyosumi High School who has been friends with Nodoka Haramura since middle school.

Mako Someya (染谷 まこ, Someya Mako) is a second year student at Kiyosumi High School who is the second person to join Hisa Takei in the mahjong club.

天江衣

Koromo Amae (天江 衣 Amae Koromo) is a second year student at Ryuumonbuchi High School and the team's ace player. Koromo's ability as a player is famous, so much that she is considered one of the national-class monsters. She is the key player that brought an end to Kazekoshi Girls' High School's winning streak a year before the start of the current storyline and is considered one of the rare examples of national-level "demons" in the series' syndicate of high school players. She is feared by friend and foe alike; due to her actions and position, she can be considered the primary antagonist of the Prefectural Tournament Arc.

石戸霞

Kasumi Iwato (石戸 霞, Iwato Kasumi) is a third year at Eisui Girls' High School and president of the mahjong club who is the closest blood-relative to Komaki Jindai.

Megan Davin is a third year at Rinkai Girls' High School, is from the United States, and is the only remaining member from last year's team to be on the current one.

原村恵

Kei Haramura (原村 恵) is the husband of Kaho Haramura and the father of Nodoka Haramura who works as an attorney and reluctantly tolerates his daughter's interest in mahjong because he believes it is only a game based on luck.

狩宿巴

Tomoe has long maroon hair tied into a pony tail and brown eyes with glasses. In her first appearance she wore a school uniform, however she is latter seen in a miko outfit like the rest of Eisui.
