エドワード・エルリック

Edward Elric (エドワード・エルリック, Edowādo Erurikku), commonly shortened to just Ed (エド,, Edo), is the titular main protagonist of the Fullmetal Alchemist series. He is the older brother of Alphonse Elric. Once he became a State Alchemist, he was given the official title of Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師,, Hagane no Renkinjutsushi), which became a second nickname for him that is often shortened to just Fullmetal.

アルフォンス・エルリック

Alphonse Elric (アルフォンス・エルリック, Arufonsu Erurikku), commonly shortened to just Al (アル, Aru), is the deuteragonist of the Fullmetal Alchemist series. He is the younger brother of Edward Elric. Al is also a victim of a failed Human Transmutation experiment to bring back his late mother, which ultimately resulted in his brother losing his left leg and right arm and Alphonse his entire body. Before it left completely, Edward managed to alchemically bind Alphonse's soul to a large suit of armour via a blood seal.

ヴァン・ホーエンハイム

Van Hohenheim (ヴァン・ホーエンハイム, Van Hōenhaimu)—known in the 2003 anime series as Hohenheim of Light (光のホーエンハイム, Hikari no Hōenhaimu) and sometimes given the full name Hohenheim Elric or Van Hohenheim Elric—was a deceptively ancient and extremely powerful Alchemist as well as the estranged father of Edward and Alphonse Elric. Despite disappearing suddenly during their infancy, Hohenheim returned during the course of the series in order to right the wrongs of his mysterious past.

イズミ・カーティス

Izumi Curtis (イズミ・カーティス,, Izumi Kātisu), maiden name Izumi Harnet, is a master alchemist and skilled martial artist living in the southern Amestrian town of Dublith, where she runs a butcher shop with her husband Sig. Though usually doesn't take on students, she accepted Edward and Alphonse Elric's plea to taking them on as her apprentices and instructed them in both alchemical theory and martial arts for six months. Eventually, Izumi grew to love them as deeply as she would her own children, becoming a long-term source of guidance and support for the Elrics' future endeavor.

Gluttony (グラト二ー, Guratonī) is the embodiment of some of Father's gluttony. Often, he will be found eating a random person or creature's remains unless ordered to eat someone that poses a threat, or to remove evidence of the Homunculi's presence. He is typically in the company of Lust.

Bald (バルド, Barudo) is a high-ranking member of the Eastern Liberation Front, Blue Squad, an Amestrian political extremist organization headquartered in the east area. In the Chuang Yi English translation of the manga only, his name was changed to Blood.

Charlie (チャーリー, Chārī) is a soldier eastern region of Amestris and a veteran of the Ishvalan Civil War. During the war, was an enlisted soldier under the command of Roy Mustang.
