MAINZakuro (西王母桃) is the main protagonist, and the titular character for the Otome Youkai Zakuro manga and anime. She is a half-demon who was abandoned as a child by Tsukuhane (Zakuro's mother) with Kushimatsu and disappeared for reasons that were not known to Zakuro until much later in the series.

MAINSusukihotaru (薄蛍) is a half-demon who works for the Ministry of Spirit Affairs. She was an orphan who was abandoned by her parents because she was a half-demon, and was taken in by Kushimatsu. When the Ministry starts working with the military, she is partnered with Riken Yoshinokazura, who she is at first afraid of, but soon comes to be comfortable around him, and even falls deeply in love with.

SUPPORTINGTsukuhane (突羽根) was gifted with great power and the most powerful maiden in the Village of Oracles. Because of this power, she was forced to marry the chief of the village so they could produce a powerful child and she gave birth to Omodaka a year later. Immediately after he was born, he was taken away and Tsukuhane was moved to a house outside the village. All she longed to do was see her sweet Omodaka and hold him once again in her arms. The chief of the village wanted another child so he came to her house every night.

SUPPORTINGByakuroku (百緑) is one of the half-demons who works for the Village of the Oracles. She is mistreated as a half-demon, and is extremely jealous of Zakuro for her happiness. She cares much for her twin sister, Daidai, who is her only family. To protect Daidai, who is much weaker than her, she often takes the bigger punishments and dangerous missions. This makes Daidai think, however, that Byakuroku is receiving favoritism, and retalliates against her. She is in love with Omodaka, and cares for little other than his safety and happiness. Byakuroku speaks with an archaic Japanese vocabulary.
